But I totally agree, that it can be very demotivating if you die with a full augment character!
And funny thing is because of the way the meta worked, 3 sup 1 dps, for 3 season+ many hardcore players only played support and will only now realize what it is to die with a dps and to have to relvl the gems. I have never played support since I started playing diablo because it was against what I thought it was fun in this game, thus gimping myself a lot in season leaderboards, as mostly this is my target and not party so I have been struggling with the caldessan problem for quite a while. I also remember the one time I wanted to treat party seriously in season 4, when I was playing static monk, died only 3 times that season and all R.I.P. were while pushing with party due to density lag and still managed to rank 2 in solo with rank 1 taken by a botter.
This ofc is not happening only to hardcore but to softcore also. More and more players quit the game or play less and less in season but I just want to talk a little from a hardcore perspective, why after 7000+ hours of hardcore I decided to say fock it.
Why do we play hardcore in the first place if its not for some challenge, and I don't mean challenge as in more time playing but as in "harder". At the moment the only challenge that we can have is with Greater Rifts and the problem is that most of the Season you don't even push because if you do push more then you will have much less XP then other players and will suffer the consequences in time ( aka "fock you noob with that crappy paragon, /kick from party" ). Sure someone can say "you can make the game as challenging as you want, don't use caldessans, fight naked..." but you see that is just a mode this is not the game all players play. To say it more simple, to reach our goals on leaderboards or in a higher grift we need to do to much boring shit where we have no chance to die, unless from a disconnect.
Now lets talk about Caldessan Recipe. The problem with this recipe is its no return feature, once the gem used is GONE meaning, if you find a better piece of gear you need to LVL UP ANOTHER GEM, if you want to change chars you need to LVL UP ANOTHER GEM, if you want to upgrade the gem from your gear you need to LVL UP ANOTHER GEM, if you die from disconnect on your fully gemed char you... well you're FOCKED. Again some would say ooo but why do you play hardcore if not for the penalty, but is this really a penalty or is a grave engraved R.I.P. from being to bored.
What does it take to lvl up gems 70% boring as fock lower grifts + 29% boring as fock XP runs + 1% maybe some pushing.
So why do I leave Hardcore ?
Well because reaching the challenging part of the game has become a TIME stamp, 10% challenge 90% boring, time consuming shit that you NEED to do before. Going to softcore I will at lease eliminate the need to lvl up again those foking gems after I disconnect or after a server fockup.
TIP: for Blizzard in case one of their lackeys read this.
Do a Dissenchant option to Caldessan, make it expensive make it how ever the fock you want but make it so we can remove the gems and reuse them because gem LVLing from a hardcore perspective at least is BORING AS FOCK.
