I just can't see a majority players who are playing an ACTION rpg sitting on the sidelines for even a spare minute to go through all that comparison mess. I think the RMAH is going to win out, particularly for hi-end loot.
You could be right, even with the underlying forces at work the problem of comparison due to the huge array of different items to choose from could become a major hurdle. At this point it will all come down to the final UI, the actual amount of people willing to use the cash AH, and the amount of money flowing in. Because if too few people are willing to put in actual money there won't be enough currency avaialable to facilitate these trades. We shall just have to wait and see how these factors play out.

So, like I said...unless one AH does something the other does not, one of the two is going to become irrelevant.
Now I understand what you mean, and I agree: under ideal circumstances, only one AH would be needed, and in a potential future I can see the cash AH making the gold AH obsolete. But that's guesswork at this point.
Judging by fan reactions so far however, it seems clear that many people are intent on exclusively using the gold AH regardless of the economic rationality to this. So long as that remains true, there will be use for both, and assuming that the people preferring gold will still want the best gear, the two have a good chance of reaching an equilibrium.

From what i understand, you can use the recall to go BACK to town, but not use it to take you to the spot you recalled from. you will have to use the most recent waypoint to get back to where you recalled from.
It actually takes you right back to where you started. But from what I've gathered there will be a cooldown in addition to 10 second cast time on it, so that should at least help some.
Ever hear of betamax cassette tapes? What happened to records when cassettes and CDs came out? Familiar with the format war between Blu-ray and HD-DVD?
Right... except the reason those system failed were the huge distribution and production costs associated with having two separate systems active at the same time, and both were run and maintained by two different competing companies.
Here however, there are no additional costs to switcing between the cash and gold AH for the end user other than minute differences in the transaction costs due to the fees charged, but that is such a small difference that both can be used simultaneously. It should be thought of for what it is, two different currencies traded with on an "global" market.
For Blizzard there are additional costs to maintaining both, but in this case they will workin unison rather than compete.
So blizzard says they will charge a flat fee for listing items in the auction house. Does this apply to the gold auction house, too? I'd be really disjointedness if it did.
The flat fee is there to ensure that no crap auctions are put up in the AH. While I haven't seen anything in regards to the gold AH, I see no reason for Blizzard not to include such a fee for the gold AH as well, however that fee would naturally also be in gold.

The number one reason not to worry about it is that you can sell your gold for real money. How does this fix the problem? Well, if people are only selling the best items of the RMAH but all you have is gold, just sell that gold for real money, then buy the item.
Finally, I don't doubt that the gold auction house will be used, assuming gold is auctioned off at the money house. It's easy to calculate the conversion costs for real money value->gold value.
Gold Value = Real Money Value * Gold/Dollar Value per gold (based on money auction house).
As for being more casual, I don't mind that, although i would like to see some sort of PvP ladder or at least see everyones wins/loses but it's not game breaking and I'm sure forums will hold tournaments...DF PvP Tourny? Sign me up. I'll put some gold into the pot!

So we that sort of counterbalances the argument on less characters made because of using all skills?
Like if I choose passives that make me a melee wizard, I'm going to want to make another to be a pure caster or something.
No, passives are all unlocked, but you only get to choose three. So it's exactly like skills, except they're passive and you only get three rather than six. You can pick 1 passive at lvl 10, one more at 20 and the last at 30.

You realize you never have to put actual money in the system? You can sell some of your own items for cash each week (with no listing fees), and use that to buy other items.

Yes it will work exactly like in SC2. Anyone can name themselves legolas, but each plater can only have one character with the same name. So there can be 10,000 legolas, but no one can have two characters named legolas.

Oh so I can sell a in-game item for a e-balance but why not sell for real money instead and just use that real money for everything that the e-balance can but more?
or did I read what you said wrong?
You can get cash, but that cash will have to be converted back to e-balance if you want to buy items with it. Since a fee will be applied on the transfer of actual cash, doing so all the time will result in less total e-balance acquired for you.

The cast time appears to (currently) be instant, but perhaps it can't be used with monsters around. In fact that makes a lot of sense. Hopefully the game will have an easier time figuring out when all monsters are dead than WoW did at release though.

I am a little uncertain about the Stone of Recall. I don't see how a personal traveling device will in any way solve the issues they had in D2 where people could pop back and forth to town during fights.

Sounds like a nice idea for sure
I think the only difference is you can only pick three passives, and like skills they don't require points anymore.
