I'd suggest you just leave this thread. It's nothing but flame bait, and likely will end up in people getting punished if it continues.
Hopefully the thread gets closed, it's contributing nothing anymore but arguments back and forth about things that have been stated hundreds of times.
Blizzard will decide now.
Agreed, but personal attacks should be reported. That way all the civil talk can remain. My last post here. I just read from now on. I've made my point.
I acutally do have HG:L and GW. GW is much better IMHO. GVG ROCKS!!!
HG:L has the ideas that Diablo WOULD have been, plausably, if the original crew had stayed. Saddly, I found it borning, though I still play it. The monsters' graphics are AWESOME to look at though.
I agree, though. Keep the Diablo series unique. This is getting off topic, too.
its true but it still subtracts a littel bit. If all the people that dont want it are gone.. then your world is full of people who DO want it.. doesnt that just turn it into consensual PvP?
In the end, no matter how much EITHER side of this debate discuss it. It will be what Blizzard decides by either majority fan base or their own volition.
I have an original copy also, meaning D2 Classic is version 1.0 or whatever it is and D2:LoD is 1.07 which it was when it first came out. You have nothing special, you are just wrong about the hostility, just admit it and stop trying to make BS up like you know anything.
He has no point. He's making it as he goes along in hopes of covering up his clearly misinformed self.
Now how can I be misinformed when I KNOW it did happen to me? Mistaken, maybe. I quit playing MP after that incident. It burned me more than you realize.
I never SAID my copy was special other than I got a copy when it was first release therefore having NO patches done to it as of yet.
with an original unpatched copy of d2 you wouldnt be able to play on bnet.. so you wouldnt be able to get pk'ed in the first place... where are you going with this comment??
I meant I have an original copy when it FIRST came out. Sorry if I wasnt clear.
You are flat out wrong. You can only hostile in towns! In D2 that's the way it's been from the beginging, you could never hostile outside towns. What you are talking about is Diablo 1, where you could hostile anywhere. We're sure seeing your experience talking.
I'm assuming you have an original unpatched copy of D2?
Well i respectfully disagree... there are ways that griefing and hacking can be taken care of on the new bnet... but PK is simply part of this game and should not be an option... dieing to a player is the same thing as dieing to a mob in diablo. Not in every game is it like this.. but it always has been for diablo... in my opinion, the opinion of a true diablo franchise fan, this should not be an option.
Well I have pwned a mob only to be low on health only to be pwned by a random pk'er. THAT is not fun. That makes you curse like a sailor. Especially if you loose a hard earned item.... like I have. Also, to say I am not a fan just because I suggest a certain option that you don't agree with doesn't mean (1. any less of a fan than you and (2. that it would be implemented. We can agree to disagree and go from there. I've done enough PvP in MANY other games to honstly say that PK'ing itself should not be removed from the game.
I'd rather have the ability to PK for the reason to laugh at people attempting to kill me as opposed to joining random games to kill a player. If you actually have a clue how to play and learn to play your character well, you can deal with your average player laughably easy.
It's not the idea that I want to actively seek out killing players in the game, but the fact that you CAN that leads me to support PKing. I want the ability to enforce myself on players who are crowding my areas. I want to be able to get revenge on that guy who just trained through half the map to kill the rare spawn before I could. I want a way to shut up a shit talker without ignoring him. You think people are immature with the hostile button? Imagine how bad things are going to be without one. People aren't going to attempt to kill you, they are going to grief you by stealing your kills, training mobs on you, and doing whatever they can to make your game miserable. The best part? There's nothing you can do to stop them except leave the game. Gee, this sounds familiar, except in the other scenario you can do something about it instead of get trampled on.
Imagine a game without cheats or exploits. Using the current d2 system, the player would have to be in town, click hostile to you, and then run from the entrance of the spawn to where you are. That gives you ADEQUATE time to do whatever it takes to be prepared to fight or get out. This whole "not prepared, easy kill" argument is garbage. You can easily be prepared to face whatever comes at you in a game. Take some time to learn how to do it and you will have a lot of fun embarassing players.
Again, I speak from experience. In D2, MOST of the time they would enable the "hostle" once they were in the vacinity of where you were. Granted IDK if that was changed AFTER I stopped playing the MP feature of D2. So at least with that said. My suggestion is valid.
We are NOT talking abotu hackers or griefers. We are talking about PK and Blizzard, before recently, has always been pro PK. Hell.. they CREATED PK. And the competition comes in when you and anotehr person, not in the same group, are after the same mob... what do you do then? you fight it out and winner takes all. OR.. it comes when someone wants to kill you and yoru forced to stand up for yourself. Either way, its all part of the DIABLO universe... as i was saying.. if you dont like this experience then perhaps diablo was never the game for you. (But its a moot point because Blizzard is for sure gonna give you carebears your way)
PK is so much so a part of diablo, and always has been, that being able to disable it would be the same thing as being able to disable death from mobs.
From my experience, the "hackers" and "Griefers" WERE the ones that mostly PK'ed. The "kids" that had no other way to "vent" than by the pleasure of PK'ing. I am not saying you are one of those. Just understand how a good thing can be abused. I will say it a 3rd time. I am not suggesting we take the PK'ing out. Just the RANDOM PK'ing upon players who MIGHT want a relaxing MP game with friends. The duel option will remain, I do beleve.
Why must all these anti-pk people use strawman arguments? Can't you actually think of something at least resembling a valid argument? Oh wait ... you can't since you don't have any. What the real problem is is that you don't want to die and are to lazy to watch out for PKs so you'd rather Blizzard do it for you.
People like you are the perfect examples for the mediocre player that's too lazy to actually even try to do better and be the best.
. You are right in one aspect. I am a mediocre player, but not lazy. I play to enjoy what I feel is enjoyable to me. I never said anything to keep you from having PK'ing at all. I only said stuff to limit your targets. Being the equivilant of a cyber thug in the game, whether on the receiving OR GIVING end, is not my idea of fun. I've had my fill of ears already. Mostly TAKING in D1.
what fun is there in NOT being forced to engage in combat that you might not want to be. i guess its way more fun for you to go through the same old structed boss fight over and over with zero competition.
What do you mean "zero competition"? The loot drops were pretty random in MP in D1 and D2 so one never knew what they would get. As of the PK'ing issue again, the only competiton would be between the 2 players, or more, not who killed the boss first or what not. If you think about it the competiton would increase because you would be only dealing with EXPERIENCED PK'ers.......hmmm....."EXPERIENCED PK'ers"?... That's what it's about. YOU WANT EASY KILLS!!! Diablo forbid you from having easy PK'S. Diablo ALSO forbid random PK'ing rampages going from MP game to MP game. Especially if hackers start running amok again and Blizzard has to play catch-up all the time to hinder the hackers. So why not let us that don't want to have deal with random PK'ers have the option to enable or disable those features? Or least not want to have to deal with it YET.
Acutally the DUTY of the player is to KILL DIABLO. Not each other. Last I checked that was the story line. .
By having an anti-PK setting and enabling the PK feature, you are acutally INCREASING your risk of PK'ers coming into your game. Plus you would be able to more easily find people in the community that acutally enjoy the risk. Like I said before, if so many people enjoy PK'ing I don't think there will be a problem. Besides, I myself could make chars where one I could have just regular MP and one for PK'ing if I wanted. I don't want to be FORCED to do ANYTHING in the game and loosing hard earned loot. If I don't want the risk, I want to be able to choose. Is it that difficult. All games have to change to a certian extent in order to be viable to todays gammers. If an anti-pk feature IS viable then why not include it? If it is not, then Blizzard can decide that and not us.

More than once dude. Don't assume. And I didn't quit the game. I played it for over a 1 1/2 years OFFLINE.

On both counts, I would agree.

Then blame the hackers. I've had it done to me before.
