Really interesting reading and very nice analysis, just one thing that I thought of and excuse me if it has been brought up before, lazy as I am I didn't read all the ~800 posts
Wasn't the Nephalem created by both the angels and the demons, namely Lilith and her lover Inarius? And didn't Lilith go rampage and killed all living beings except the Nephalem, Inarius and herself? I thought that maybe that could explain why there are no demon elements to be seen, but what are the demon elements that you expect to come across?
I think it would be pretty cool if Blizzard in some way brought it into the story and created a cool asian influenced class which could equip some primitive guns and also maybe could put together some nice explosives , but that's just me talking.
Thenk you
I don't remember the part about her rampage. What about the water? What if there were demons in the water, or an entire new continent on the other side of the planet (as the diablo 3 trailer established that it's indeed a planet and not a plane of existence.
fuck off! i read the subject..it says guns!! in any form smartass, i dont want it in diablo 3...now u can play smart and writte pages and pages of powder history or how some npc from d1 said he would make guns, i just stated an opinion..either u like like it or not i dont care..just u and other like u who give +1 shit or write several pages about nothing dont play smartasses because you have issues..if we dont like guns we dont ..so shut up smartass retard!
Why are you even coming to a forum if you don't read the original post? It would be paranoia that leads me to believe you're a troll, however you may just be stupid. Even if english is not your first you must have common sense, or do you? In any case you're useless here.
Get off forums if you're not going to read the Original Post and explain your opinion thoroughly, this isn't a fuckin' poll on Diablo3.com, we engage here for dialogue and intrique.
If you think you're trolling, you're not even a troll, You either have it or you don't and you markedly do not.
When I said the thing about Ammo, I was talking about basically with Synoq said. Different effects from different ammo.
It'd be nice if you could refill stacks instead of having to buy new ones and then dump it into it.
The special properties that could be put into Items like bows could be adapted to the Gun anyway. I noticed that you guys are arguing about special properties for a gun, think of how a bows special properties work, you're giving the bow the properties, not the ammo, the moment the arrow touchs the bow it gains that property, in much the way a bullet could.
They could even make guns shoot magical bullets like the Witherstring shot magical level 3 arrows.
The deal with magic and projectiles is connectiveness.

Why is it that a gun is so unrealistic and yet a Ballista, a siege crossbow, is so acceptable. I never even knew huge crossbows existed like this, I mean it shoots a massive projectile that can do so much more damage than a mere musket ball and yet the gun is so overwhelmingly powerful? (Example below)
Think of rune wording a bow or gemming it as a germ, it spreads from contact.
Back on topic though. Since this is about ranged weaponry. What do you figure that they're gonna bring back the Ammo collection, and if they'll give the ammo unique properties.
Agreed. Guns would make the game a little easy because Im pretty sure range would dominate most melee monsters.

guns suck!! in diablo that is...you cant fight the prime evils with pistols...its stupid, u need some enchanted kick ass sword, axe or whatever and kill it...

Why the fuck do people come to forums only to post wasteful statements. I mean are you coming to a forum for a fight or are you so handicapped that you can't defend your statement but you want everyone to know.
Where are the Diablo fans? I didn't want a World of Warcraft Fansite, i'm not looking to fight or threaten anyone, I don't even like children.
I know that this topic get's a badwrap because of the topic, but i'd be interested to see what the Diablo 3 team would have to say. I mean most people who has read this topic has had a strong reaction in some way, perhaps that warrants a response?
I'm going to edit my OP again since it seems to be vague on a few things but i'll just put my interpretation of the items, as I looked through lists of them and what I know.
If you guys know of any items from Diablo 2 and 1 that I havent put on the OP that are of Far Eastern origin, let me know through PM or here.
The splint armor, as I was told, is an armor that was brought from asia.
This just looked like a chinese crossbow. They had a thing for beauty, and just look at it and tell me you don't think of a dragon or serpent.
This looks like a ceremonial chinese bow to me, though I could be wrong.
This is a chinese repeating bow.
I believe that this is an mythical knife
One of the ancient asian kingdoms attempted to turn a tool of farming into a weapon of war.
I am absolutely not sure about this one. It reminded me of a chinese long sword.
It looks like those little knives that Shinobi used.
These both remind me of Chinese and Korean spears, though they used to put things near the end to distract people.
I have been told that one of these is an Indian weapon, I'm guessing the one on the right. I remember seeing something like the weapon on the right in a Japanese drawing of an assassin killing a king.
Yeah, Indian weaponry is similair to Chinese maybe, but not that much Japan.
Seems like theres some controversy about ninja, shinobi etc., but i dont care. My point was that the Sin in LOD isnt much of a Japanese or at last Chinese assassinator.
Cool story BTW.
Yeah it isn't too much of that but a lot of what it has could be seen to be strikingly similar.
If you look at the items on my Original Post you'll notice quite a few Korean, Chinese and Mongolian weapons items. (the remind me so much of Mongolian Horde helmets)
The Assassin appears to be a mix of many central asian cultures. India, Japan, China, Mongolia, and I think some of those items are Korean too.
It's just that they seem to be progressively expressing ancient cultures more and more, such as the Roman and Greek Armor in diablo 1, and 2, and the Amazon, Druid, aswell as Assassin.
It kind of throws everything out of place since the time period that this game takes place is in late 13th century, early 14th.
And then what throws me off is how they include the 16th century stylizing of the Necromancer.
The katar is Indian, and the only class specific weapon of the Sin.
In Arreat Summit, she has some Katana or Wakizashi in her belt but that would be used like a ninja* at best. --- Just checked Arreat Summit. Those weapons arent necessarily Japanese. Especially the design of the scabbard. --- Checked Wiki and Middle-Eastern swords look also somehow similiar.
Also Vizjerei are Middle-Eastern, Act 2 i guess.
LOL so the sin is Indian.
*Very important and kinda long note: Ninja never used fancy sword fighting, nor did they have those wonderful, stright blades. They used cheap, poor quality, shorter that normal katana, because they couldnt find something better. The blade was shorter so they could draw it fastly, and also store some other things in the scabbard. They just stabbed their oppenent quicky so they could run away, and usually didnt fight the guards. More oftenly they used throwing little weapons, and even primitive smoke bombs. Iron powder in a egg shell. =D Seriously, that was one option to make a smoke bomb.
The Indian Culture is actually asian, but like on the edge of being asian, but technically asian.
Also, ninja's were people who carried out stealthy assassinations, not nessesarily a Shinobi, which is a diciplined assassin.
I remember an old ninja story of a boy whom was the relative of a powerful magistrate, the magistrate was threatened by the father of the boy, and had his entire family murdered. The boy oddly enough survived.
After a few days the boy had mustered a knife, and some rope. He snuck into the Magistrates room by scaling a small wall by using the rope and a tree, and entering into the sleeping quarters through the garden. He ripped the mans throat open and escaped without being caught.
I don't quite remember the final conclusion but It was something like he eventually came to rule a province himself under a different name.
The point is, he is considered a ninja because of his actions and that it's not a title moreso an action.
That's my point of view on the differences of Shinobi and Ninja, though everyone says they're the same, I don't think that it's necessarily true.
But everyone should know that "Allah" is just "God" in Arabic, nothing else. Not like "Buddha" as an example. Your just using the Arabic word for 'God'.
In before Marduk.
In all seriousness though.
Why the hell is the Assassin forgotten when we think about these Asian elements in Diablo, it's probably one of the most important pieces.
When I watched that mythos gameplay video, I thought that there could be only one kind of firearm that could fit into the gameplay and still be effective at slow speeds and that is a shotgun, now when I say shotgun, I do not mean small steel balls. I'm talking about a gun with gun powder packed in and then a bunch of shrapnel packed in front, not fast (maybe double the attack speed of the crossbow) but can take down several enemies in an aoe effect blast in a specific direction, but it wouldn't be powerful, but after a few shots it would really show it's place. A weapon that kills normal enemies of equal level in 2 shots and uncommons in 4 or so, you see where i'm going with this, no powerful blasts but moderate to low damage, a purely PvE oriented weapon, nothing that could ever compete in PVP. This would do 2 things, it would take the attention off guns and it would give it a purpose, like the explosive potions, but still make it a viable weapon, nothing that changes the item gathering up.
I'm just brainstorming that though, help me mold the idea please.

Firearms in Diablo 3? Maybe? Asian Element exposed!
It didn't work, should I just PM an Admin and ask for help?
What kind ammo could a firearm have?
