There really isn't much I desire to be improved. I just want the textures to be a little less blurry, more shadows, and the removal of the awful green tinge seen in the dungeon:
Yes, from a visual and comical standpoint. Sure, there was war, blood and death, but the sprites were bright and vivid and the voices never failed to make me laugh.
The funny thing is this is breaking out into the same BS that happened with Fallout 3, except you're complaining when you really have no right to. Fallout went from a turn-based isometric RPG into a first person shooter with elements spliced in from every genre. You people have a beautiful game that Blizzard wasn't in any way obligated to make, done in the same relative style of gameplay as past entries, yet you have the utter gall and audacity to complain about it. God. Why not just drag the argument kicking and screaming back to its roots and compare WarCraft 2 to WarCraft 3.
Oh my god! He has two axes in WarCraft 3! And it's too dull of a green! And the gold is missing off the armbands. 3d?! What is this, EVERQUEST?! Arrrghhh PETITION!
Warcraft 3 retained the light-hearted feel of it's predicessors while improving upon the gameplay. I'd like for Diablo 3 to retain the feel of the past games in the same way, but that doesn't mean I'm against all the changes. I like a lot of what I've seen so far. The only things that really bother me are the green haze that seems to cover the dungeon, the lack of shadows, and some arguably WoW-inspired models and textures.
I remember those days. I also remember all the fans going on about how they wanted Inventory Tetris to stay in the game when the question was asked. Look at what happened with the inventory there.
True, not all suggestions are good ones. However, for those that are, it's important to gather support so that someone working on the game will at least take notice. Right now, the opinions of Diablo 3's artistic direction are extremely polarized. Even with two parties of conflicting views, a compromise is often possible.
We can show support by offering constructive criticism. Sol, you know as well as I do how Hellgate turned out. I'm not sure if you remember me, but I was on the front lines of suggestions for Flagship all throughout Alpha and Beta. Much like this situation, half the testers (including myself) wanted changes and the other half shot those people down. If Flagship had just listened to the fans, it's possible that the game could have been much better upon release.
My point is, many long term fans of the series want this game to be the perfect sequel for Diablo 3. If it look to us like Blizzard is making the wrong choices for some design elements, the only way for us to voice our concerns is by offering suggestions and criticism. It is up to them to decide what stays and goes, and it's not like we're holding them at gunpoint to get our point across.
Here is my take on it. I increased the shadows a bit, toned down the greens, and replaced the silly statues with something more appropriate. I warn you though, i'm not the best photoshopper around

I agree. We're trying to get improvements here, not make it look like shit.
