right here is instigating. you could have left my post be and not try to attack me now. You know damn well you were not trying to end the argument. You insulted him at least twice in that post alone.
You're perpetuating this even further. How does that cup of hypocrisy taste?
Ok Dragonov...Use that same pic you have now of D3 with the abomination and put it side by side with the abomination from WoW. They are similar.
And in case you can't see the similarity in your own post...I'll help you.
The texture of the WoW skin is the same as the zombies in the D3 s/s. They are smooth, pale, and bright. It's as if they took the WoW zombie, shrunk it, and stuck it in D3...in fact...I'm sure that's exactly what they did.
Dragonov....you're comparing WoW dorfs with d3 skellies?
How about comparing WoW skellies with D3 skellies. Or WoW zombies with D3 zombies? I think you'll find a similarity.

Don't worry Linkx...i reported you for flaming and trolling and trying to start crap in a thread that MD specifically said to keep free of all those things.
The more and more I think about it....it somewhat feels that they used this design concept to lure in those who find WoW aesthetically pleasing. I mean, if they get the WoW players to play it because of their love for Saturday Cartoon graphics...then really...who cares what the fans who have been playing since D1?
Meh....as far as the one persons comment about "will you notice things like the pillar when you're teleporting...blah blah blah"....yes...I would and it seems that many others would as well.
I would still play D3...but begrudgingly to say the least. And I would still complain about the graphics.
This type of graphic desing is fine for WoW because it's based off of WC.
It is, however, not acceptable for Diablo 3. The previous games, while sprites, did not look anything like this and wouldn't have if they were 3d. How do I know? Because the original designers weren't apart of the WC or WoW crew.
Look a the pillars though in the actual s/s and look at the edited ones (top of page 40). The edited one is far more realistic. The pillars look like they've actually crumbled and the tops appear to be jagged and grainy...like old destroyed pillars should.
Now look at the actual game s/s. They are completely smooth. I'm sorry but that's not realistic in the least bit. The texture of this game is very WC III-ish and WoW-ish to say the least.
Maybe the color pallet doesn't need a change, but the texture of the models and art definitely needs a touch of realism and lees Wow-ism.
The smoothed edges don't make it look more real...they make them look cartoony and fake.
This is a game about Diablo...THE LORD OF DESTRUCTION....the color pallet should not be bright and cheery. The zombies look like the UD in WoW as far as skin tone/texture are concerned.
When I look at the trees in the outside s/s they remind me of the "happy" trees Bob Ross use to paint.
We need darker feeling, whether its colour or not, we need the area to be sketchy. Blood smeared walls, dead people in horrible positions, heads on pikes, impailed bodies. This game needs to look less nice and a whole lot more sketchy.
You can put blood all over the walls and countless disembodied carcasses strewn along the ground...but if the graphics look like Hello Kitty online....it completely wrecks the "feeling".
I will say it again, the way you experience and "feel" a game is through visuals. The D3 visuals currently are not dark or grittier enough.
i 100% completely agree with fargn. those edits on the right hand side make the game look sooooooo much better, when i first viewed the videos i was like ah to bright to many colors, with those mods that you made, it looks a million times better
my vote, it needs to look more like fargn made them look, maybe blizzard should hire u to fix all their colors n stuff good job
This was a picture that's been posted before. Though I believe the person used photoshop and the noise tool to get it like that.
D1 and D2, though made of 2d sprites, looked far more realistic, gothic, and dark in comparison to the d3 graphics that look too shiny, colorful, and overall have a very WoW-ish feeling.
this is what D3 should look like ....
As you can see the ones on the right side are what the fans who are complaining about the graphics want. We want a darker, grainier pallet and design.
I understand that Blizzard said they want to focus more on the EXPERIENCE OF A DARK FEELING, but how can you EXPERIENCE that when the visuals show otherwise? The way you experience a game is through sight, and what is on the screen is an extremely light color pallet, that looks very cartoony and destroys that dark and gothic feeling completely. It just looks like WoW with an overhead camera shot.
The design and colors just dont make the game have that feel or look that d2 had. The d2 sprites looked more real in comparison to the d3 graphics. I rather have the game look like the rightside pictures. They have a more dark feeling and also look more real, unlike the smooth cartoon drawings to the left.
