We waited like 6 months for a new char class with virtually NO updates, just two or three art works updates to the blizzard's diablo 3 site. All this time to get a "monk". It took them 6 months, maybe more, to come up with that sh**y design and name. Great
Unreal. You are still obsessed with the name. But I think this is the first time you've said anything about the design. So what is it about the design you do not like?
A lot of names of things throughout Diablo have hardly been that original. But that didn't mean they weren't still awesome. I mean a lot of classes from D1 to D2 like Warrior, Mage, Sorceress, Barbarian, none of that is very original at all.
But here's the thing. Being original just for the sake of originality is a contrivance. One could get just as easily pissed off if they tried to hard to do everything so original that none of it even made sense. I like that a Monk is something that I have an idea of what he might be about. I have some clue as to what type of class this is. Even lorewise I can already start to imagine what his role might be relative to other classes.
I'm not saying I want to be totally familiar with a class. But I am saying that if the developers try to be as original with just naming something as some of you want them to be, what's the point if the only aim is to sound original? I just don't get it.
So far I've yet to hear any well thought out criticism of the Monk. The basic overall thing I'm hearing is that it's unoriginal? Like, it's just the name of the class some of you have a problem with? So nevermind that his skills and lore could be something totally original. But because he's called a Monk we're gonna write him off.
Oy, I don't think I can get any more constipated than I am now. Some of you have the strangest sense of entitlement. And I'm all for criticism, I really, really am. But fuck me, the things some of you come up with.
