You'll have to excuse me, I stumbled in at about 3am last night and posted that while higher than 10 hippies.
I meant to include that I was talking about Ancient items, and how people should always look at them before salvaging in case the item may have low-level viability.
Gem of Ease is certainly a great idea, but you'll get more power out of a natural Lowered Level Requirement (ilvl 70) item via the free use of the socket for red/green gems.
Always keep a backup set of gear in your stash. on that note, keep all your gems/keystones/mats in your stash too.
And not just that; if you are going to stick more or less to the single class - or the classes with interchangeable non-class-specific gear - try to obtain a level-reduced "set" as soon as possible - it will make your life a bit easier if you need to level up again and don't have anyone to powerlevel you / want to do it without external help.
Rare and normal legendary & set items can roll up to -30 levels (thus equipable at level 40) and ancient legendaries & set items can go as high as -40 levels (thus can be donned on at measly 30th level)
Slight amendment to your post above. Level requirement can be reduced by up to 40 levels, making them equipable at level 30.
A great idea for HC players with LOADS of gold is to twink leveling gear by re-rolling the secondary affix to Level Requirement Reduction. Always check "worthless" Legendary items for this affix. I say "loads of gold" because this secondary affix is extremely weighted, possibly the most weighted affix in the game. I spent over 100 million gold once, and never did see the affix appear.
As an example of a worthless item that can be pure awesomeness when re-rolling a new HC character would be something like this beaut I stashed, and lemme tell ya, it makes leveling back up solo super easy;
My ISP just fixed a long time issue in my area, making my connection solid again and allowing me to come back to HC. If you play US non-season, I'd be glad to help you along in-game. Feel free to add me if we're on the same page.
