I am absolutely sure the game will not be P2P, because blizzard is well aware of the attitude of Diablo players. But Blizzard being Blizzard may just make the game price very high, considering it's free to play online.
Also,as we can see from the gameplay trailer, the basic concept of the game including the edited engine and the graphic part (which is the main part of the game anyway) are already finished. Thus meaning that they have only to finish the rest of the acts, quests and the map, and recieve reports from the beta testers, and it's ready to sell.
So, we can expect D3 to come out, somewhere between 3 to 12 months from now. I know it's very approximated, but we can't say anything more surely until they announce it themselves.
And the last thing, don't trust pre-order sites, because they have absolutely no means of knowing the release date, as it is scrictly against blizzard policy.
regards
P.S. One more thing, don't be surprised if you find the price extremely high, because they know we'll do whatever it takes to play the game (at least i would)
