MD, whats your whole theory on the diablo franchise (this is quite a serious question).
What sort of diablo game (if any) can we look forward to? (MMO SP/MP)
Do you believe the timing now is better than any to announce it? (with starcraft II almost out)
MD what is your whole view on whats going to happen with diablo. In theory.
Well I should ban myself and half the posters in this thread for going off-topic lol. On a serious note, you are asking about my personal opinion:
1. What I think or wish ... Diablo III RPG hack'n slash in 3D. Followed by an expansion, and a MMO.
2. My opinion on the Next-Gen MMO: Starcraft Ghost revamped into the PC.
3. IF -- and this is not confirmed -- an announcement is made at WWI -- maybe a cinematic and gameplay video. BlizzCon: Maybe first public hands-on.
Oh, videogaming. Well, they simply reported that Shacknews contacted Blizzard for a comment to the Diablo 3 Announcement rumor.
Shacknews is well known in the gaming news industry, so I believe they got that response from Blizzard. However, I don't read too deep into that canned response. Last year they said the same about Starcraft 2, and voila -- within a couple of weeks they announced Starcraft 2 at WWI 2007.
That doesn't mean it will happen on WWI 2008, but hope is the last one gives up.
Exactly. And they can answer back when they have a chance, whereas bugging him on the phone I might interrupt something they are working on. I would only use the cell/phone if there is an emergency.
There has only been one emergency. I had sent Draiken (who is no longer a Blizzplanet staff) to BlizzCon 2007. I had secured a press badge for him through Nethaera. However, when he got to BlizzCon -- the lobby attendant did not have his press badge, so he wasn't able to enter the event.
Some people who won a BlizzCon ticket through a Blizzplanet contest, also reached me via Chat to let me know of the same problem. This was clearly an emergency. People paid a flight to get there, and they couldn't get inside. I called her, and she was so cool. They got inside less than thirty minutes later. The press badge and tickets were found quick.
On how I approach them, I don't know how to answer. I simply focus on what I need to know. For example, hi (name):
1. Can I bring a MP3 Recorder to the WWI event?
2. What's the status on the Richard A. Knaak interview? (<-- referring to if Public Relations has reviewed it so that I can post it on Blizzplanet).
How do you talk to them though? Like, with the secrets and stuff? Obviously it involves a lot of people skills. I could never do that, I suck at people skills.
What do you do? Have lunch? Talk on the phone? Ring them up and "Hey, whats up?"
While I do have their phone numbers (cell), I prefer email and Chat. Not much people skill needed to something that flows natural. I have been in contact with them since both of them became Community Managers. Before that, I have been on the Blizzard Fansites Program for five years.
However, don't think I know uber secrets. They have NDAs and contracts that keep them from talking about things. Sometimes I get to know minor things a few days ahead, but I can only prepare the news and release the news for when it is out.
I keep asking them about Diablo patch at least 10 times in the past five months. I haven't gotten a single lead. Naturally, they aren't Diablo community managers and they would have to go through other channels to get that type of info.
Because the owner of this website is loving the traffic while all us patient fans keep "checking the news section" =P
Or maybe it takes time to communicate back and forth with Blizzard to make the ownership transition smooth? I have emailed a few contacts about some three interviews at Blizzplanet that are still going through Public Relations review/editing. I haven't gotten a response yet.
This is just an example. Please, don't jump to conclusions toward Mockery without knowing what's going on backstage. Saying he is sitting back to see the traffic is very rude with lack of facts to support that.
Communicating with Blizzard nowadays is difficult as they are preparing for the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals which is almost upon them. And on top of that they also have other work to do.
Let's take a look about Blizzplanet's upcoming interviews and how long it takes to communicate back and forth until the end goal:
Interview with Epic Weapons was made a week before the Auction ended. It is been almost two months. Last I heard it is on queue to be posted on the official Wow site news.
Interview with Luke Johnson concerning World of Warcraft RPG: Dark Factions. That one was handed to Blizzard PR a bit over a month ago.
Interview Part One with Aaron Rosenberg and Christie Golden (World of Warcraft: Beyond the Dark Portal) -- it was submited two weeks ago. I can't post any of these three interviews on Blizzplanet, until I get the ok from Blizzard to do so. And usually when they post it on the Official WoW website.
Imagine if people were pushing me to release the interview before Blizzard PR gets to read through it and approves it.
This is the process in which Blizzplanet interviews have been done since October 2007. So I am used to weeks or months of back and forth communication with Blizzard. Things take time. And they are ready, when they are ready. And because things take time, it is best not to say estimated dates -- because you can't always meet a date due to outside circumstances not forseen.
In short, let things move at their own pace. Eventually, when Mockery is ready, he will make the announcement. And it will be in less than a month. Be patient.
I do not know, nor have confirmed if the domain name will be used for an announcement on June 29. I don't know if there will be an announcement at all. I will find out once I witness: an announcement or a on-your-face nothing happened.
However, the original question a few pages back was: When will the domain name be hand over to Blizzard?
I replied soon. But I can't comment when.
Now the comment was that the owner of the domain (Mockery) never says anything.
I refuted that saying that Mockery was who revealed on May 1 what everyone on the net now knows. He will be who also reveals the date it is officially handed over -- as in: when he no longer has access to the domain name admin panel and it is registered as owned by Blizzard Entertainment.
When? Only Mockery will announce that. Keep an eye on the news section in upcoming weeks or days.
I can't remember who did it, but a member of this fansite verified with sources a couple of weeks ago that PCGamer staff were spotted at the Blizzard event held in May for the press. Can we see if PCAction was spotted there too? I doubt anyone would've taken notice since they are a smaller company.
That was me. I chat often with Leord from WorldofWar.net -- someone spotted PC Gamer folks at Irvine twice, early May.
After finding out "estimated time of arrival" and rereading this post.. This guy knows something from Blizz haha, well it sure as hell seems like it with "As in: someone with more authority."
Not aloud to comment about it? WINK!? your breaking my balls sir.
umm ... the original question was when was the domain going to be given to Blizzard. I was talking about the domain name former owner and owner of this site (who has more authority than me).
