Look at this!
"Accurate reports on the nature of the horrors that lie below the church come to light more rarely than survivors. I have attempted to provide a base knowledge of what awaits you by searching through our vast libraries for historical and scientific tomes recounting the Horadrim's epic war against the three.
I have summarized the information that I discovered. Due to the length of time that has passed since most of the original accounts were written, and the uncertainty surrounding the present evil that plagues this land, I cannot guarantee the veracity of this information. I do, however, believe that this information is as accurate as possible under these trying circumstances." - Vischar Orous

That is part of the intro in the manual before describing the minions of hell, including the Overlords and including the part about Inarius. So we were right, the change in lore is more like a new discovery to update old information, rather than just scrapping previous information. Blizzard already covered themselves by having these paragraphs lol. Lucky.
BUT
there is one thing that really annoys me. They changed something that did not need to be changed. The symbol for Baal used on the LoD cover was originally the symbol for Mephisto. I actually noticed the change years ago, and it has been annoying me the whole time. This goes back to my 'upgrading is better than changing' thing that I said before. This is an unecessary change/swap. If however, Baal's symbol was upgraded, aka, made better, then it would be okay. But using something that was previously there is not okay. And what's the point? Baal's symbol looks just as cool as Mephisto's, its not like it was complete crap.
Unfortunately, I've yet to finish the last Sin War book. But I would imagine most changes would be things from the first Diablo manual where it discusses a lot about the Sin War and Inarius.
It doesn't mention Inarius at all in Librarius Ex Horadrim. Maybe thats the change? But I don't see it as a change, more of an addition.
Also, for those who didn't know, Moon of the Spider is set just after the Worldstone is destroyed, and nothing major changed, more like something just doesn't feel right. They suspect that it would be much easier for angels and demons to enter Sanctuary now, but then it isn't mentioned again, so the return of Astrogha doesn't seem to actually be related to the Worldstone's destruction.
I just finished reading The Sin War, and then I went back over the manuals to see the difference, and I really can't find any. Could someone point them out? All I know is that the manuals generally say that 'The Sin War' is the war of Angels and Demons fighting over humanity, but then the books go into actual detail of how it all started and seem like an accurate account of what happened. The manuals just seem to be put-together peices of small bits of information that some scholars have gathered together. The Sin War makes it so much cooler.
By the way, I've now started reading Moon of the Spider, but I don't like it anywhere near as much as I love The Sin War. I love TSW cause it introduces everything and how Sanctuary came to be, while MotS is already in an established world. I have a thing for introductions, you see.
Edit: Oh, and please don't go into the whole 'does D3 exist?' debate again. I'm so sick of it, and I'm sure everyone else is. This is about the lore of Diablo (and how freaking awesome it is). And come one, this is Blizzard we are talking about. Every game of theirs is good, don't doubt a new D game wouldn't be.
