Race doesnt really matter but I have all of mine picked out already anyway. I'll post some screenshots up later tonight of each character.
As for what profession I'm still really torn. I want a profession that is really good at solo play but also has long range capability for world vs world.
I tried the Thief and Ranger, with a small dabble into the Necro.
I have to say the Thief while not my cup of tea was a good character, easy to play hard to master I think would be best to describe
The Necro was the toon I had shortest time on, so I cant really say much, but I managed to level 6 but just didnt feel for me.
Ranger was great fun - versatile and enjoyable I played a Norn and found it loads of fun.
I love the elementalist, the amount of havoc I can wreak in WvW is so much fun, solo play though (and this is likely just because I suck at switching elements) is really tough. I'm thinking of trying a ranger for solo leveling, possibly warrior, it was a lot of fun.
I didn't get to check out the weekends beta due to my file going corrupt or something. Tried to patch it but it kept telling me it couldn't connect to the servers. So I went to go to the GW2 site to try and reinstall from there but couldn't figure out where to go (seriously their website is awful).
Yeah I'm not really sure why they didn't make stuff more obvious. I mean you get an email with all the information and links but still some people might not have seen it.

Those of you planning on buying it, what profession and race are you going to be?
I personally haven't had any beta so I'm still between ranger, Mesmer, elementlist, and necro
As far as race, I have no idea.

Wise ElderYeah Warrior with rifle is nice. Bow is actually really cool too but a shorter range.
