Brother and sisters of the Latin Alphabet! I beseech you to spread the word that we have been duped into naming the letter W in the most idiotic of fashions. All other letters can be named succinctly and sensibly. Even H is not so appallingly described in the phonemes used to indicate it. Thus from this day forward we should all agree to change the name of the letter.
Here I do propose that we begin calling the letter either Wul or Weh
Please grant me your opinions and thoughts. Spread the word and we shall be free!
Who will stand by me!

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
I don't think Weh would work very well, because saying a url would make you sound equally idiotic under our current system. However, Wul could be a good alternative.

My place really was here. I was too foolish and stubborn to notice. But, what I truly hoped for then was here. Why do I always realize it When I've already lost it.
I already substitute "dub" for W half the time like, "dub-dub-dub dot diablofans dot com." It's fast and, in context, people know what you're talking about without explanation. Who cares if in 100 years nobody remembers why the letter dub doesn't have a "wuh" sound in it?

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.
It seems like Wul or Dub are satisfactory. Excellent!
@tanis0 the issue is not the sound incorporated (H also doesn't use its sound in its name), but the length and making it subordinate to u or v (depending on language).

Afterall 2 A's together is just an upside down double U with a line.

Of course H uses its own sound in its name. It's just silent, like in herb or school.

I also do this. I'm totally okay with it.
