I'm guessing it will be some sort of a rogue assassin. He would use bows for ranged, and daggers for melee. He might have some sort of stealth abilities like the WindWalk from Wc3, and he would gain 100% increased attack speed for 3 seconds when he get's out of the WindWalk.
He will have Critical damage and also a Bash ability (Chance to stun).
His skill-trees will divide into Ice, Fire and Poison.
The Ice will obviously slow the enemies and possibly have a chance to freeze enemies for a short time (0.1sec?)
The Poison will obviously drain life slowly from enemies, could have a chance to make the enemy delirious and attack a fellow demon for a short time.
The Fire will have a chance to ignite enemies and drain life from enemies and make them have a lower chance of hit success, and the fire could possibly spread to closer enemies.
Since everyone is guessing/wanting a ranged class.. i was thinking of a smart cunning malicious inventor/mechanic? someone who uses advance technology, like a tinker in warcraft 3 and their main weapon will be bow/guns/bowgun?
and maybe they can summon a tanking steam powered robot and have a pocket factory? i think that will be cool..
Then i guess both the Assassin and Amazon in d2 were spellcasters.. I just mean the arrows and daggers could be enchanted by those kind of skills (like they were in d2).
As far as all the "Rogue" suggestions go, I don't see it happening. We already have a fast melee class. The Monk. He's very swift and agile. I don't think a Rogue would fit well into the Diablo universe. (In before "We had a Rogue in D1 hurr hurr")
JW already mentioned that it's going to be a class we already know.
And considering they already told us, the barb is the only one from D2 that returns, it MUST be the rogue from D1 (who was a ranger and not a WoW-like rogue).
But I'm not hearing suggestions of a bow-wielding Rogue. I'm hearing suggestions of a bow-wielding Amazon and a dagger-wielding Rogue. I personally agree that it will be a bow/javelin wielding class, but when the word "Rogue" comes to mind the first thought is a dagger-wielding shadow-stalking backstabber

Well, he didn't say we played the class. It could be a class that was seen in game, but wasn't playable. Say, the desert mercenaries in D2.
But I agree that the most likely class is a rogue, but I find it hard to see why there are male Ssters of the Sightless Eye.
Why would all rogues be members of the Sisters of the Sightless Eye?!
From the Diablo 1 manual:
Quote from name="Diablo Manual »
The Sisters of the Sightless Eye are a loosely organized guild shrouded in mystery amongst the peoples of the West. These highly skilled archers employ ancient Eastern philosophies that develop an "inner-sight" that they use both in combat and to circumvent dangerous traps that they may encounter. Known only as wandering Rogues in the West[/B'], the Sisters conceal their secret affiliation by posing as simple travelers. Many pompous fools have made the mistake of underestimating these steel nerved women in combat and paid a terrible price for their vanity.
TL;DR version:
In diablo lore, a rogue is another name for a Sister of the Sightless Eye.
Quote from "Dauroth" »
Yeah, this! The term rogue is not always associated with the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye! He/she could be from a totally different place and have a unique background!
But it wouldn't be called a rogue then, now would it. Rather hunter or archer or something like that.
Nothing in that quote states that they are the only Rogues in Sanctuary, or that they are the only warriors known as Rogues. They are known only as wandering Rogues because it is a secret guild. If a group of Barbarians formed a secret guild, and people called them Barbarians, does that mean that non-members of that group can't be called Barbarians?
There could be a guild called Brothers of the Eagle Eye, known as wandering Rogues in the East.
In any way there is nothing in the Diablo lore that makes the existance of male Rogues impossible, or even unlikely.
Hmm, that is indeed so. All sisters are rogues, yet not all rogues are sisters.
Reading is tech...
Well, I'd rather have them give that new background a different name. It feels unnatural to have two rogues with a different background in the same series.
sounds more like a spell caster than an assassin.

I think people are just getting confused is all.

After so much D2, I think it would feel weird to play a male caster or female barbarian.
Did you forget about Charsi?
I feel the same way, but for a different reason. I'd prefer to play the 'canonical' or announced genders.

Think of the casters as necros and the barbarians as amazons.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
