The Merc. Revamp him a little to look more like a desert raider/assassin and he sounds like a badass idea. Everything seems to fit in pretty nicely. Bows, spears, traps AND auras seems a bit overloading for one class though.

the iron wolves are the act 3 mercs arent they? I thought they were like the sorcerers from D1. Also im pretty sure i read/heard somewhere that spears and/or polearms wont be in D3.. someone prove me wrong lol

You can't prove someone wrong when the statement that they will definitely be in D3 has never been made. That's like saying "I heard santa will be in D3" prove me wrong

lol i was just going for the figure of speech not literal approach. But upon further investigation I have read that polearms (at least) will be in D3, i don't know where I heard it though

its not from a game, its from a wallpaper i got it here

So the monk is using polearms.

Monk is cool, that means traps, auras and bow is left out! I think Bow will be the next weapon on the new class. Maybe traps. But The Aura technique may delay until the expansions.

When I saw that picture, a little hidden piece of my heart soared. Hoping beyond hope that such a badass character could fill the spot of the inevitable ranged class. Of course this hope was constantly being beaten down by the reality that Blizzard would never allow even the smallest piece of concept art for an unannounced character to be shown to the public.

Since that thread, I have become more and more convinced by the reasoning of other threads and the tidbits of information coming out of the black box that is Blizzard, that there is just no escaping the return of another lame white girl in a leather leotard.

And yet today, as I have read through this thread, I have once again been able to feel that spark of hope for the Dune Raider Assassin. Though it may be fleeting, I can at least thank SyberDragon for giving it back to me.

OMG EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE THOUGHT FOR AGES! Your reasoning behind your prediction is like someone reading my mind haha. I feel as though most of you missed my thread on my 5th class prediction a while back which fits in almost exactly with what scyber is saying - though i didn't delve into listed reasons as to it's viability.

I'm glad some of you are thinking along the same lines as us cause i think this class would be badass.

One other thing - remember how blizz said they were gonna release the next class at blizzcon then decided it didn't feel 'powerful' enough when compared to the other heros? That is why they decided to release the Monk instead as far as I am aware...

Well I believe this also supports the idea for a bandit/desert merc/nomad class as it would be very hard to make the class as colourful and powerful as they do not have amazing powers like the barb/monk/wiz and witch doctor.

I believe that they may have initially planned a dert merc/nomad character but decided to either dump the idea in favour of a character with a more powerful persona or make some serious changes to spice the original character idea up.

Also I just found a concept art from a Diablo Fan Site that could cater for our Desert 5th Class idea -

Makes sense that the class is some sort of desert themed character. I originally thought after the monk was released that it was going to be called the bandit with bow/traps/melee(whether that be dual wield or spears). Especially thought it after they said they were going to release a different class, but it wasn't ready so they released the monk in the desert themed area(aka act 2).
