Pirates were the most feared fighters of their day, and used cunning, stealth and deception to create weakness and confusion before they went in for the kill.
As the champions of Kings, Knights endured strict training and excruciating hardships that also made them incredibly tough in battle. They had no fear of death and fought without mercy, because they believed their opponents were unbelievers and barbarians.
Knight Fighting Style: Close Combat, Unprejudiced, Defense
A Vampire class could potentially be cool, if they brought it into Diablo
Unless theres a Diablo MMORPG with sea demons, then I dont think Pirate would make the cut
With Xianxai, a Samurai class is a possibility... But they might have to rename it... So its not so cheesy

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the names. Most would sound weird for a Diablo game.
I just said this in another thread... but all the samurai/ninja comments need to stop.
There's just no place for asian culture in diablo. period. so people need to stop trying to insert it.
it's way less cool than the themes they have, and it would completely ruin the feel of the world. remember, this is NOT earth, so there can't be spartans, samurai, apache, etc. These guys just feel weak b/c they're too human. a samurai would get raped by any other diablo character.
just picture a little chinaman running up and whacking diablo with a katana... doubt it.
A martial artist would deff be cool, like a monk class with auras and stuff like that. He would be able to use hand to hand combant along with using staves and things to that nature along with a plethora of healing, damage and other cool auras. I think it would be a pretty awesome class xD.
Although I really love everything about vampires and their lore I really dont know if Diablo is a good place for one. They tried the concept in Sacred 1 and all they have achieved was just another warrior hybrid with more buffs (which I guess implied the supernatural strength of vampires).
You cant really explore your imagination here because most if not all attributes of vampires are already well defined. Of course you could make a vampire less human and more beastlike but you dont really want to do that in Diablo do you?
So I think we would generally end up with another melee/stealth character in vampires body which is cool by me but if I had the choice I'd really prefer my Paladin or any other holy man/warrior type/blessed by angels kind of class.
Well, I was thinking that a vampire would be to much on the evil side. Instead of fighting against Diablo, they would be fighting with him. Anyways, I wanted to change it to Half-Vampire before anyone read. Although they still have all the venomous and blood tactics, they have the add-ons of what a martial artist might have, or something... Got that from a movie where the average vampire was A LOT stronger than the average human.
Anyways, I only liked 2 of my own classes (not vampire)... The other ones at the start of the thread could work for 1 of the 2 classes still being made. Gladiator, Spartan or Samurai, most likely. Knight is basically a Paladin... Ninja would be too much for a Diablo game (same with Apache and Pirate).
Why would a vampire have to be evil? Just because it drinks human blood?
A easy little story could perhaps explain that it found someone that could remove the bloodlust. In most vampire stories, not consuming blood would reduce its powers to that of a normal mortal, which would suit perfectly, but still keep its special powers. It would be treated as the necromancer, beeing unliked by most people. And it would hunt diablo to make up for its past. A nice, short story.
We will not get a gladiator, it is a non magic character, thus similar to the barbarian.
A ninja and a assassin is similar, it might replace it. It would be different since a ninja is more stealthy.
A knight sounds to me as a dude with heavy armor or a horse :), not likely to end up in the game, too similar to a barbarian.
All i could think of atm.
Well, a ninja sounds a little weird. Kind of like it doesn't belong in a Diablo game.
Well, the last game I played that had a Knight made the Knight be some Holy Warrior with auras, spells and physically enhanced sword attacks. That reminds me a little bit of the paladin.
The only difference between a gladiator and a barbarian is that a gladiator has more forms of defense. You don't really see a barbarian with a shield. ;P
Eh? You know that the old gladiators used to fight with very varied weapons. Not at all only with sword and shield, they used spears, staffs, tridents, daggers, and all other weapons you could think of.
And i made my first barb in D2 use a shield. It was a shield basher
Yeah I agree about the ninja NAME, not about the character itself though.
I have never played a game that pictures knights as magic users What was the game?
I never said they only used swords and shields.
They were old games. I don't remember their names (they closed). Anyways, what were those knights called in Warcraft 2? Holy Knights or Paladins?
Never played Wc2, I played Wc3 though and have played it regularly since I was 9. And there they were normal horse riding knights of the king.
You said that they were more defensive than barbarians. Which isn't really true irl, it is only how you picture them in your head.
Although they have a wide variety of weapons, they also have a larger variety of shields and armors compared to what a normal warrior might have (and what a normal barbarian would have as well). Also, that being said, lots of their weapons are defensive as well.
Actually one of the greatest barbarians were the Vikings and Vikings used ALOT of shields. Also the medieval knight tradition of using shield comes from vikings.
And the best barbarian build of PvE (concentrate/ww) use Swords and Shields, only changes for 2H swords to take donw bosses were the shield is not that important if you cap your resistances with other stuff.
All of these classes are too similiar to existing or previous classes in D2.
I'm not being an ass or anything; I haven't been able to think of anything too original. But each of those ideas could be associated to the Barb or the Sin.
