I'm bored, and feel like speculating. Therefore I present to ye, my awesome hypothesis: The Elemental Archer.
That's right folks, archer meets D2 sorceress. With command of the elements, he imbues his arrows with the obvious elements to do damage. But rather than the offensive element attacks of the sorceress, he would focus on defensive spells/enhancing his bow
He would have such skills as:
the more obvious Fire Arrow, Ice Arrow, etc...
Earthen Circle: creates an expanding ring of earth around the archer which knocks back and damages enemies (and knocks back projectiles?), while halting a few feet away as a wall through which he can fire, but enemies must destroy to reach him Favorable Winds: passive, allows the caster to affect the path of his arrow, raising chance to hit
but my favorite idea: Augment Elements: Cast on an enemy already suffering elemental damage (ie: is on fire; is slowed by cold), the Archer enhances the effect, causing great damage and augmenting the effect (ie: fire grows, does damage, and spreads enemies; cold freezes in place, and does ridiculous damage and causing the monster to shatter if it dies) Cloak of Air: The Archer becomes one with the wind, raising chance to dodge all attacks
Ooh! and maybe he could summon elemental quivers, instead of always having to go back to town to buy arrows: instead of the obvious "ice arrow" bleh, he'd summon arrows which he could use
Moreover, this class idea allows the Archer to summon Elementals and/or Golems. mmm... Golems...
I'm sure I could think of more, but... yeah... no. What do y'all think? I sure hope I'm on to something here.

Ok...did you ever get an act 1 mercenary that lived for like 5 minutes? I'm pretty sure they shoot fire and ice arrows
It's way too much like that. It's just an improvement on the merc.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able, and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God. -Epicurus-Athiests- Winning since 33 A.D
I'd say it sounds cool but with things like that especially the earthen circle the archer sounds more like a sorceress, the person might as well play a sorceress with the arcane tree and get it over with. Seems a bit boring to play yet another archer class where they just add elements to her again like they did in D2. I hate to say it but I really thing the archer in the strictest sense is kinda played out maybe its time for a new standard class.....
And i liked the idea... but we already have the wiz, wich is enogh elemental / arcane character imo.
Understood. I liked my idea though, mostly because the wizard is more arcane/storm based, and I expect to control other elements too...
hahaha, it IS just like a mercenary from act 1, I never even thought of that.
Also I want to summon things with more than one class. The Witch Doctor is too meat-shield-summoner-y. I think the archer class is the perfect one to be a real summoner, and I don't want a ranger-type-deal, where you're summoning the same things as the druid.

It's a improvement from the zon once her have fire and frost arrow skills.
