Phalanx is not the right word for a class. it's a tactic invovling interlocking shields. It was later modified by Julius Caesar and other Roman Generals into the "Tortoise. A Phalanx was only a solid wall. The Tortoise was 3 dimensional.
A better word is Hoplite.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Sanctuary may be a different world but many concepts cross over, and since when in any game is a class named after a tactic? It might be new but it seems out of place.

These class ideas are a good way to vent your imagination, but come on, do you actually think that you will succeed in guessing what Diablo III's classes are?

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
I didnt like your classes. It is too generical. every single rpg have a elemental mage or a shadow mage u.u
Avatar is also a bad name for a class like that. They have creativity. You`ll see.
Those class ideas seem way too hybridized. There are still quite a few "pure" archetypes that seem likely to be exploited by the remaining three classes, like a more traditional spell caster, ranged weapon user, etc.
personally the game world could use a few more "dark" classes, like a warlock, or a demon master...these add some real story flavor to the game style, as a PnP roleplayer
definitly. we had necromancer last game which is kinda evilish if you ask me. the witch doctor is kind of creepy, but i think we'll see darker then that.
any comments on the other classes? personally i like the idea of all the classes except 'Battlemage' and 'Dragoon' and the name 'Woodland Ranger' is pretty pathetic but i like the idea.

You're arguing for absolutely no reason. You know he's right. You can't name a class after a tactic, because that is completely retarded.

I also hope they make very unic and special classes in diablo's world.
I liked the Horadric Knight idea.
