It will be as achievment in retail version, I am 100% sure...

I love this part of the game - but yeah, I'm sure there'll be achievements chained to it as well.

However, I'd gather it purely for the lore and sheer awesomeness of the way it's told, brushes up on lore and everything. It's great.

Couldn't agree more Gnub. For once in some time now, I'm actually more excited about the actual story of a game, than the game itself
Really looking forward to finding more of these tomes throughout the game.

And ofc for the achievement: Gotta find them all!

I like the little edition of these books, I like hearing the stories, it's interesting. I'm glad they have this in the game. Even if they only give you XP in the end (I'm not sure what else to expect), I'd be happy with that. I hope to see more lore from the actual Diablo books... particularly including the necromancer Zayl.

Well the XP they give later on (unless it increases) is so minor, that they are just that extra icying on top of the cake that we lore-nerds love
