I've never played Diablo I or Diablo II, and I wanted to catch up on the lore and whatnot. Where would I go to read up on this or anything of the sort?
He is right. The book of Cain goes a step deeper in to the details of the story.
Additionally, it helps you speculate into the events which may occur in Diablo 3.
If you want a really in-depth version of what happens before Diablo I (which sets up the story) you can check out the sin war novel. They may not be the most exciting. (In my opinion) They are helpful nonetheless. These books do not describe everything that happened before (like details on the mage clan wars) but they are quite helpful in giving you a good base.
I just wish the other stories were cannon. (legitimate)
Personally I played Diablo 2 many years ago, but still remember how amazingly immersive and intensly awesome the whole game was. I never played diablo 1, and even though I did pay attention to lore while playing D2, I was never fully read up on the complete backstory of the universe.
The 3 movies you posted, Doomscream, once again reminded me, and made me fall in love with, the Diablo universe and all that comes with it. Its endless battles, darkness, and hopelessness feelings that I got while playing D2 can only be experienced playing Diablo, I am sure of.
Elijah0100, while I completely understand those who would like to read up on the lore of a game before experiencing it, I strongly encourage you to play the games! (even though I only personally played D2+lod.) Much of the lore from the game will also be learned trough playing the games (at least loads from D2, comparing to the 3 movies I just watched). Just make sure to take your time, talk to the NPCs and enjoy it!
I've read several wikis and the lore is so bloody massive i couldnt put the information in order.
I have played all the diablo games but never focused on the story too much, or its just so long ago i cant remember it lol.
Those videos i just watched is awesome. Thanks for posting
