Is it possible that, as "Valor shall turn to Wrath", and Wrath is one of the Seven Sins, Azmodan is the one responsible for the corruption of Imperius? I mean, we already know Lust and Gluttony...why not the other five as well?
We do face off against some of his lieutenants, so I can see Imperius falling to Asmodan's power in some subtle, indirect way. It would be in such a way that Imperius falls right into Asmodan's hands without realizing it.

Do you think the demonic corruption of the Crystal Arch might have something to do with it?
@OP: I voted for maybe, because we don't kno the game's plot (yet!). But I would HATE to see Imperius corrupted. His an archangel... A really zealous one, but thats the nature of the angels after all. His the perfect excuse to shed angelic blood in D3. I would hate to see that gone because Imperius turns into a fallen angel and align himself with demons. Also, I kinda like Imperious as villain to be (he is one of the few things I like in the sin war). He would dispoint me if he gets corrupted, i expect much more of him (like stand to his idea no matter the consequencies).
@Above: The problem is that we don't know who the f*** is Despair. People think it's Diablo since Terror and Despair are kinda related. Also blizzard would never allows a prophecy "Hope shall be swallowed by Terror" because it would totally spoil the game.
Another point is the fact that the prophecy don't mention Diablo in any other way... Since the prophecy more or less tells what's D3 story (at least part of it) will be like and we have tons of reasons to believe He is in the game... The only thing that makes sense is him eating the poor she-angel and getting that female body.
