Heya! I have been a huge fan of the Diablo series all the way back to the original Diablo dungeon crawl when i first played it in early 1997. Over 15 years after i first played the first game i have finally decided to pay my respect and tribute to the game and its developers by infusing my skin with ink from the bowels of hell itself!
Well..I eventually had to settle with normal ink, and the real hunt began for a character from the series that was worthy of being carved into my skin:
Why not Diablo himself you ask? Because Tyrael is just about 10 times more awesome, and this fan art piece made by Brom is the very pinnacle of awesomeness in my opinion. Too late to change my mind anyway, going to the tattoo artist in 15 minutes. So wish me luck and hope that it will be as awesome as i think it will be!
Update:
Keep in mind that it is not finished yet, so it is far from perfect. I'm going back in approx three weeks to finish it up, as you can see there are several details missing on the sword, waist and other minor details that will get added later on. The skin on several parts of the tattoo is also shedding like hell when this photo was taken so its not as crisp as it was when i did the first part almost a week ago. Overall im very happy with the result so far, and im certain that i will be even more happy with it in a few weeks!
Yea, make you sure you get a good artist, they can work magic. I got a tat of the triforce on my upper back :P. Anyways you should toltally get the ascended wings on your back.

Most People Are Completely Ignorant To The Microscopic World Around Them -Me
While I understand your enthusiasm, I would like to advise you to have it done in a tasteful manner, size-wise. You may like the Diablo franchise now, but what happens if D3 doesn't meet your expectations? A tattoo is something you'll live with for the rest of your life, as you obviously already know. Having a Tyrael all over your back is not the best way to go I think...
Maybe a little one on your right shoulder (; Would give it more meaning. And later on maybe a small diablo on the left shoulder to balance it out (;
i heard tatooers use toxic paint that is used in industry products and does not fulfill any health standarts.
Also: Where is it gonna be
And: pics when it's done plx
Toxic ink? Now that sounds demonic enough for me, sign me up!
I like to have my tattoos visible so it will get the allmighty upper arm spot on the left side. I barely got an hour in the chair yesterday because the artist had actually lost the picture i brought him, so i had to get a new one and wait for him to draw it up again. But i managed to get the outline done and also the lower half of the body + sword almost done. Going back on saturday to hopefully finish most of it so it will be worthy of showing off soon! Looking good so far though!
Cool, I've also thought about doing a D3 tattoo. Will probably also be tyreal cause he is a great tattoo model.
I hope you will be really happy with yours and I hope the artist does a great job. The dream would be to find a talented artist who digs Diablo cause that would bring more awesomeness to the table.
Pics when done please!
The artist actually asked: "Thats from a videogame, right?" He was familiar with the game, but he obviously was not a fan since he didnt get nearly as exited as he should have been!

Just my 2 cents.
A valid concern indeed. I usually think long and hard before i get a new tattoo, and spent 4 years doing research before i got my previous tattoo, think i have been looking for almost 3 years for this one. There is also a reason why i chose Tyrael and not some inbred demon or a female barbarian with anger management issues; If i ever(?!?) tire of the Diablo series then the angel can always serve as some kind of badass guardian angel or similar instead, not just something that can only be associated with Diablo. The tattoo will not be tiny however, it will cover most of my ginormous upper arm!
I dont thin i could ever get a tatoo. Its so permanent and they fade eventually. I could neve see myself always liking a tatoo when I get older, even if it i from a game I will laways love. i se why other people gt them, but its not for me.
Hmm! I have seen that soon before! Can't place it but I somehow get the feeling I will never see the pictures!
Where oh where have you seen that soon before? I thought i was a groundbreaking Soon(tm) pioneer!
Keep your eyes on this thread in the next week or so and i will hopefully have a photo up, the tattoo guys usually take pictures and put them up on their Facebook page. I can guarantee you that it will not be taken with my crappy mobile phone camera at least!

I used to think the same way as well when i was younger, until i started watching tattoo shows like Miami and LA Ink on Discovery. After that i got pretty much hooked and finally decided that i had to get at least one! The real trick is to do some research first and find a tattoo that suits you and which will never really get outdated, it also helps to do some research and find a good tattoo artist. Tattoo's with your kids name will never grow old for example, your ex girlfriends name will however.
If I had the money, I would get the exact same tattoo on my back. From neck to ass Would be cool!
And as you say, it can serve as a kind of a guardian: "Nobody dare to touch my poop!"
An ArseAngel(tm) tattoo would probably be quite expensive, but could probably serve as a nice guardian if you dont like getting flanked from behind. The tattoo itself would probably be more detailed if it was on my back, but i like to show off my tattoos, not hide them away 24/7! There is a reason why im pale as hell on the parts of my body where i dont have tattoos.
Wow! Thats commitment right there, Ive got a few tattoo's and to be honest as much as I love Diablo I would never get a video game related tattoo. Id be too worried that when Im a crotchety old man Id be sitting in front of the mirror cursing myself because I can't relate to video games from my youth anymore. But you know, that level of commitment to the series is something that blizzard should see, thats free advertising right there, you should get a beta key if nothing else. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
I went back to the tattoo shop today to hopefully finish up my tattoo, and although it didnt get entirely finished it still looks awesome as hell so far! Got most of the shadowing on the armor and wings done, now all that remains is to finish up the sword and some minor details and it will be done! Will try to get a picture of it if i can get a hold of someone with a camera as soon(tm) as possible!
Did i mention that it looks A-W-E-S-O_M-E ?
Maybe make a henna-tattoo before to make sure the artist can deliver? =]
Also, one more thing to say to you: good luck.
Thank you! I had allready gotten the outlining and some shadowing done before i saw your henna-tattoo suggestion, although i doubt i would have done it anyways. I have seen several of his previous tattoos's on their official Facebook page, and i liked his work enough that i thought he would be the right person to do it. Doesnt hurt that the tattoo shop is like 2 minutes from where i live either.

Thank you! Although i doubt that Blizzard would go head over heels for a simple fanboy tattoo i sure as heck would not say no to a beta invite if they threw one at me! I have basically given up on getting a key, i think its way more likely that the game will be released before that happens! However unlikely that may sound (that the game will be released that is).
As i mentioned above, there is a reason why i chose Tyrael and not some other character, it does not have to be associated with Diablo at all later on if for some bizarre reason i should stop liking the Diablo series! Im 100% sure that i will love this tattoo for the rest of my mortal career, mark my words!
Thanks! I actually brought that picture as well as the one i posted earlier to the tattoo artist a couple of weeks ago when i first made the appointment. Mainly because i thought that the picture you provided would be a better starting point for a black and grey tattoo. He actually used that one mainly while he was tattooing as well.
Looking forward to seeing the end result. You chose a really cool picture.
The hard part about having a tattoo of Diablo is he keeps changing. At least Tyrael is pretty much the same throughout the series.
I'd get a tattoo similar to that but my fiancé and her family would be a little displeased I think.
I wonder if someone would get a tattoo of their talent build to prove they believe in its validity...
Thanks! You will probably see the end result soon enough, took a picture of it today and a friend of mine will hopefully get it uploaded tomorrow. Been getting good feedback on it so far, the only downside is that everyone i meet for some reason has to poke my left arm even though they dont know that i got a tattoo there. Not especially comfortable, i can promise you that.
So your fiancé and her family is a bit conservative, and dont like tattoos all that well? Sucks, but keep in mind that its your body and only partially your fiancé's You dont have to get one where its visible to everyone either, a back tattoo would probably be a good idea!

I prefer photograps over screenshots when i tak rl pictures, but i hope you will be pleasantly surprised.
Got a spare one? The gods of luck certainly do not favor me!
Well, that one will definitely qualify for a Soon[tm)!
