Or maybe you should layu of the psychadelics. Really, I don't remember anything like that. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me, but I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, and there's been nothing suggesting that we'll be going to Heaven.
That being said, the high heavens isn't much better than the hells, for Sanctuary. Ultimately, their goal too is to destroy Hell, just as much as Hell wants to destroy Heaven. We're just caught in the middle as unwitting pawns.
Hmm... might have been D1 then... maybe even a modded item, but I do remember it, just dunno how legit it actually was xD
Also, I agree with Sol on this one, and post #7.
The thing is the gothic style of Diablo 2 incorporates both whats in Sol's picture and what Corwyn describes.
Don't you think the gothic tone could do something to the horrible graphics of D2 and D1? I mean yes there was less light, but that is when it wasn't as great, I mean I know Warcraft 1-3 is very colorful, but D1-D2 also had bad shading. xD I think maybe you guys should just.. uh lay off the creators and trust them?! >_<
I really wonder with all of this....how many people out there are actual artists? I know it's not all about the color...do you understand how color can be used though? I mean do you even have a basic understanding of the color pallette? Honestly if someone could defend their opinion of drab dull artwork, which I think would include what some want for the art direction of d3, with actual examples of art that is not colorful but "gothic" i'd like to see it. My beef is that people are arguing about ART direction....so I would hope those that are doing so know at least a little something about ACTUAL art. Matter of fact why don't you look up some renaissance art; you know old religious paintings and actually look at the colors...they are some of the most vibrant paintings I have ever seen; which is amazing on a side note considering they did not have even a fraction of the color possablities we have now.
I know of two people who are artists, and also 3d artists that are against the current style (one of them being me). The simple explanation is this, cleverly used color on a more subtle background is more stylish and easier to look at than multicolor on a brightly colored background. Just take a look at the best and most stylish magazines and advertisements with their subdued colors and generally limited pallet with points of focus compared to bright colors over other bright colors as used in cheap "dolly" type magazines and kids advertisements. There IS a reason they do this you know.

This is interesting because I am also a 3D artist, and I am a modeler and texture artist. I happen to like the new color pallet as it adds much need variety instead of everything being dark and desaturated, and I believe there will not always be an abundance of color in this game. The Blizzard devs made an interesting statement about using accent color to its fullest advantage, and while we haven't seen this yet, I imagine they mean dark areas with hints of light and color, sort of what is seen in the Old Tristam concept art, which I think is superb. I however do not agree with the consensus that this game will be a technicolor wonderland. Judging from the gameplay trialer, their color pallet for the dungeon was obviously well thought out as there were no colors that seemed to clash, or felt out of place. I have no problem with bright colors because I believe and rightfully so that the art team at blizzard will make use of the contrast between light and dark, bright colors, and dark tones.
This whole debate still rages on, but honestly I think many people are jumping the gun on this subject. Blizzard knows hell is not hell without darkness, without torture, blood, and evil. What makes you think they are so inept as to forget all this? I say a gameplay trailer can mean everything to some people, but to me it means the tip of the iceberg and gives us the chance to see an ever darkening landscape as we travel towards hell itself once more.
That being said I also noted a few things that you have presented us with that I felt were worth mentioning. I liked the smaller shoulder pads on the Barbarian Female, and the change to the small gargoyle statue model was well done. (though I still think this asset and the pillar it stood on was not finished by Blizzard) However the details you added to the staircase shot and the witch doctor shot would require blizzard to either up their Texture resolutions or use bump and normal maps much more frequently which would also raise the min spec reqiuirments for the game. I don't kown what their plans are, or if they are going to include these features, but since this is such an early build, chances are the final graphics and detail work is not in the game at all. I've worked on a few titles myself and many times these details are going in during the beta, post beta phase of development before release.. aka polish time.
i think that blizzard is fu*** playing whit our minds , and what they show us is a style of fake for making us to call attention and do this kind of stuff we doing right now like pettition and also making a "style of war " in the principals forums .
what i mean is that what they show us is kind a fake to keep fans working in other stuff while they fix some things , also i think that the fu*** green color they added just for the show , come on we all know that Diablo its must be kinda dark and gothic whit out loose of the coiors and light , i think that we have been waiting for is not that they show last week ,whit out that Diablo wouldnt be Diablo right ?.
And if its the real way of design .....then color suck hard ... the shapes and graphics sucks 2, how tha fu*** they think a shoulder protector higher than the head i mean if you look a side you wont be able to see a sh*t ,and that over light green crap .. have no word for that piece of ..... anyways i have signed is way better to anticipate.
plz dont kill me .:D
Q: Did anyone think what could happen if they show up the "real" style and color if they didnt ?(meaning that they show us was a kind of a fake or editer for it)
A: I think it coul de be like OMFG !!! this is such !"··$%"$% way better(x99) than they show us at first time.
Haven't read the full thread, so if it's been said, forgive me please!!
They said somewhere, possibly in the interviews, that though it was possible for mortals to enter heaven, those that were able to breach the gap were dead before they could process a frame of the image before them because heaven's glory was too great.
Not to say that they can't find a way to get around this, just something to consider when formulating an opinion of whether or not we will go to heaven in D3.

Why can't a heterosexual guy tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly?
"Two decades have passed since the demonic denizens, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, wandered the world of Sanctuary in a vicious rampage to shackle humanity into unholy slavery. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils directly, the memory fades slowly and the wounds of the soul still burn.
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram's Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet from the heavens strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells – and even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself."

Meaning we have to fight off Heaven's forces.
And here's a tip - if you think it's "too bright' DROP THE DAMN BRILLIANCE ON YOUR MONITOR! It does wonders..
Kthx. Please stop bitching. And gothic style depends on off-balance contrasts, meaning a soft white and a hard dark, which brings out the dark.
Um, yeah, and they're doing that in D3?
Oh, yeah, right... sorry, forgot you guys are noobs. lulz.

Blizzard is not responsible for the death and loss of your hardcore characters for any reason including Internet lag, bugs, Acts of God, your little sister, or any other reason whatsoever. Consult the End User License Agreement for more details. Blizzard will not, and does not have the capability to restore any deceased Hardcore characters. Don't even ask. La-la-la-la-la, we can't hear you..,
