So I was reading up on the Witch Doctor on the D3 website and was curious about something mentioned...

The witch doctors are finely attuned to this Unformed Land and are able to train their minds to perceive this reality through a combination of rituals and the use of selected roots and herbs found in the jungles. They call the state in which they interact with this other world the Ghost Trance.
Ghost Trance. If this doesn't sound like a skill, ability, or something that happens over time (like a rage bar) then I don't know what else it could be. A useless bit of lore? I somehow doubt it. Looking at the skills listed, we see a skill called Soul Harvest.
If you read the lore, it sounds to me like you'll use Soul Harvest as a sacrifice to your gods so you can go into a Ghost Trance. What that does - dunno. It would be neat to get some discussion going about what everyone thinks it might be.
Rage, Ghost Trance, Stealth mode for a tricky oriented character?, Arcane Surge for a caster?, Blaze of Glory for a paladin?
I think that if it is anything, it will probably be some sort of "overdrive" mode that maybe each character will have a way to get to every now and then. That could make for some very cool animations as well as abilities.
It would be awesome if it was some requisite to a group spell. Say, a group of witch doctors must go in Ghost Trance to unleash a SSJ4 type of spell on mobs :).
Sounds more similar to Ayahuasca induced visions, making contact with the spirit world rather than a "rage/mana" bar. Though good Shamans can contact the spirit world without substance use.
The lore suggests that when they go into the Ghost Trance they see the 'other' part of the world. To me, that suggests that they'll have an ability that will make them perform better or allow them to strike at the enemy in a different kind of way.
Whenever lore stuffs capitalizes things like that, it generally means it's going to be important either to the lore or the character.
Perhaps after sufficiently sacrificing enough enemies by using the Soul Harvest skill, you gain increased regeneration via this Ghost Trance. In a sense, a rage bar. Perhaps it's just an inate triggered ability, sort of like the barbarians natural ability to dual wield in D2.

So lets hear your thoughts.
