The gameplay looks amazing, i really cant wait to play.
But, i do feel changes should be made to the art style, bring it back to its dark roots. Lets shed this horrible WoW-esque appearance thats tainting blizzard games these days.
Im glad people here are actually discussing it now, i mentioned this last night and was flamed to death by fanatic fanboys. Mario somthing was the main culprit, he really believes cussing helps his maturity.
It's not nostalgia, I saw tons of people say so... they all have nostalgia? I doubt it. I always thought lighter environments are better at atmosphere than darkness is. Music, sounds (oh god, sounds), and gameplay are much more important than the actual colors.
Unless you are blind you could easily see that all textures from Diablo 3 (from what is available to see) are hand made with a pastel look, that kind of art style belongs to Warcraft, the bottom texture is what belongs to Diablo, that was my point.
Starcraft 1 and Diablo 1 (as well as most of 2 I believe) were hand made pastel graphics that made use of sprites. Think you got them mixed up.

Also keep in mind though that even with out the light radius Diablo 1 was dark as fuck in the dungeons. I don't think every time you are outside it should be that overwhelmingly dark but even outside that dead feel was always something that really attracted me to the game.
I got one question is the 2nd pic from the right showing diablo 3 at night if it is then they need to fix that ..
at daylyght it should be how it is and at night well like the pic i just shown at the botom..

We're trying to balance satisfying the fans and also creating a game that feels like our own.
it's not cartoonish, you just mentally handicap......If you even had an idea as to what they intended then you wouldn't post this. Why not trying to look for some interviews before posting

I heard the interviews, I know what they intended to do.
I just think, based on what I've seen, they didn't do the best job they could have. I also am willing to accept the fact that they have plenty of time to adjust things before the release and that we've only seen a limited amount of the game.
For people saying that the game is no where near finished. He did say in the interview that they are well into the game and the only thing left to fill in is content. So it is a functional game, not polished, but functional.
I just am hoping that during the night time and in the dungeons they stay true to the roots of the games. (Story permitting)

Even though i'm not the target of your insult. I'd just like to point out when you call someone "mentally handicap" you'd best improve your english and grammar ability first.
Here's one more, i kept the color while giving it a red'ish hell mood, i think this is the look blizzard should adopt, not too dark since it's day outside but just a small hell ambiance:
Not feelin the red, its earth in that picture, not hell. Just needs to be darker and grittier.

I do think this looks nice but another thing we need to make sure people understand is it does need variation. I personally don't like the so bright, perky, rainbow style but the entire game also doesn't take place in hell.
I would be satisfied with less glowing during the day and a nice dark shadowy ambiance during nightfall. (As well as having the traditional dark moody dungeons we all know and love. :D)

I would agree with that but that may be my nostalgia talking.

I hope this issue is brought to blizzards attention and at least a compromise is made.

I sure as hell hope not.
It has too much red.
