Hi everyone. I stopped playing when I got ESO and recently have jumped back on to play. I quickly got bored however. I've got each class at max level and am only Paragon 250 (strictly hardcore). I clear level 32 greater rifts safely and relatively quick. I'm just not sure what to do now. Maybe it's just my problem, but does anyone have any suggestions? What do you do? I don't want to play public matches for fear of hacked items and stuff, none of my friends play... I miss the game just am not sure what to work for any more.
Seasons would be nice but I understand we likely won't get them. I played on PC for a long time when I bought my new computer but my motherboard melted and my PC is just a $1500 end table now. I know a lot of people here don't even want to talk about console, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
edit: I have all the trophies too, in case that was going to pop up.
You can continue to push higher on GRifts with that hardcore character. You won't be bored once you start fearing for your character's life.
You can try out other classes or modes and see how you like them.
You can replace the motherboard in your computer and get back to using it. Then you can get back to playing the way that highlights it's glory...with a keyboard and mouse (and turbohud, j/k)
I actually didn't expect anyone to respond. Thank you.
1. I may have talked it up a bit more than I should have. I can complete 32+ on my dashing strike monk. He kills things ridiculously fast and rarely even takes damage. Other characters, since I have each of them moderately geared T3 safe.. are scary to take into grifts. I guess just talking about it rekindles a bit of that fire.
2. Modes? I've got each class, maybe I just haven't figured out how to play some of them well. I'm not big on researching builds and copying things people do. Most of the time, I just make a build around the gear I get. The set items make it pretty clear what skills to use.
3. I wish. I spent so much on that computer and it was nothing but problems from the day I got it (2 months after I ordered it). Some day.
I actually didn't expect anyone to respond. Thank you.

1. I actually stopped playing HC because I would get way too excited when rifting if I was cutting it close.
2. What I meant by mode was normal versus HC. SOmetimes it's fun to push your character and see what they can do knowing that if they die you didn't lose it all. The challenge then is figuring out how to optimize yourself to advance. This is especially true if you like to do a lot of DIY builds. Also, with the next patch, it will introduce the LoN ring bonus so you can do more DIY sets and advance to higher rift tiers while inventing your own builds.
3. That sucks to hear. Maybe it will be better in the future.
I used to be a strictly HC player myself. From Loot 2.0 up until season 2. I didn't like the fact that SC(or carebear as we called it) could build straight damage and didn't take toughness into account at all. M6 DHs running around with 4m toughness and such. During season 2, after I lost my 4th SWK Holy Monk that season due to disconnect(no non-DC deaths), I decided to try out SC, and never looked back. I found it much more fun to push higher and higher. I enjoy being able to test the limits a lot more than playing it safe, as it seems like you're doing. It may be worth checking out if you're getting bored in HC. There's a natural aversion to risk that is hard to overcome.
You know what, I didn't consider going back to core (played it when it originally came out on PC so I could sell stuff on AH to help buy beer in college) but now that you guys put it that way... A big draw to the game is leveling new characters, but I have no wish to make a duplicate character. I know I won't make one of each on core but starting a new one to push like you guys said sounds like it could get me hooked again. I'll just have to decide what character. I'm honestly getting fairly tired of how much I've used this teleport monk. Could use something a little more sword and board like.
Assuming we will get another patch on PS4, which would be killer, what is this LoN ring bonus you're talking about? I just started screwing around with the cube thing to extract legendary bonus'. I can't even think of what LoN means. That reminds me that I wanted to ask you guys, can you extract the Ring of Royal Grandeur bonus? That would be crazy..
Thanks so much for the replies. You may have actually sparked a new interest like I was hoping.
Yeah, maybe it's the whole solo thing on console that's got me down. I'm scared to get flooded with hacked items and stuff in a public game, so I don't do it and none of my friends play any more. I've played (except for the small break for ESO) since release, but a lot of the time was split between PC and a few different console accounts because of the switch from PS3 to PS4. Yeah, I've got about 6 different copies of this game.
I felt kind of lost when I got back on since there were updates. It makes it kind of tough when I come here to see what is up with the game and it's all season talk. Trying to figure out what the new content is for PS4. Still, super happy, you guys got me all pumped to at least get back into it for a bit. Maybe level a core barbarian or something. It's probably my least played class next to wizard.
Even if you don't have seasons, your patch notes are essentially the same, right? 2.4 makes pretty much everything viable, so more than ever you can explore pushing whatever style of build you like, or playing a class that used to suck or you didn't bother with, etc. I've only played DH Crusader WD on the PTR, but they're all way more fun and have a much larger variety of ways to play them that actually work than ever before. Season or not won't change that aspect.
Obviously I can't speak for others, but for me, a new season is more about coming back for a fresh start on the new patch with its changes than it is about the season. If Season 5 was starting on 2.3 again I wouldn't really care about it much. So you still get that aspect on console.

There are no seasons on Consoles and likely ever. I would like to see an option to make a character that is like a season character that is not linked to a shared stash and no paragons.
------------
I have both a PC and Xbox 1 and to me Diablo type games are for the most part more fun playing alone, unless you have a few good friends. I do not build fast clear builds and I like to take my time and kill and loot everything in the map. I even wish they bring back the walk feature since I find default speed to be to fast.
My favorite build is the melee WD yes a melee Witch Doctor and I think I will do one on Season 5 on PC.
------------
OP I would suggest to level up some legendary gems since one of the best features to be coming is a new recipe in Kanai Cube to add either a main stat or Vitality to an Ancient item the amount will based on the level of the Legendary gem used. Other than that I would wait until patch 2.4 becomes live. You do have more options for builds especially now with the 2 piece LoN (Legacy of Nightmares) Set which is completely changed from 2.3 and now has a bonus for not using any other set bonus on gear. You get better damage and damage reduction based on the number of ancient items you are equipping. Also a lot of legendaries got revamped so it is easier to build a build to your liking.
Now back to my melee WD.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
I currently run d3 on my ps4 and I love it! I play HC more than just normal! Something about pushing my character to its max is fun on HC. I do hate the modders on the system though. If you are playing and getting bored while playing, look for the d3 communities that ps4 has on the side with the new system update they had. I made more legit friends who play HC. I helped a lot of people and some have helped me. Get to enjoy playing HC GRifts 50+ depending what we got. You will find that once you get friends, you will stick with them a lot more. I don't get go into public games due to the fear of the modders in the consoles.
Also you can enjoy getting those bounties up, you need mats for the cube and with the new content coming out, you will need more stuff! I am always playing this game, getting items and gear, Sucks that my toons die but it is like having a seasonal toon.... minus the cursing i end up at the end cause I got too proud of my toon... LOL!
Join the communities! Add me to PSN! I have the same name as I do here. Cheers!

I like that first one...
I am the brave little chicken... well with the new patch coming soon... I won't have to worry too much.
Thanks buddy. I didn't know there were such communities, I'll have to do some digging and find them. I'd love to play with someone that enjoys the game as much as I do. In the very least, I'll add you, I'm ares0226.
Can't tell ya all how much it means for your input to such a drab question. I wasn't sure the game was completely up to date with PC, but it sounds like it is. I found some ridiculous treasure goblins last night and lost my mind. I got so excited, I almost died trying to chase one down. So pumped now. The only thing that was mentioned here that I'm lost on still is the LoN thing. I'll have to look that up. Never heard of it.
edit: I just saw someone mention Set Dungeons. What? What is that, or does anyone have a link to where I can read about them? I don't know what that is but it sounds fun!!
Oh... I know I have those rings in my stash for sure. I never used them because of my need for RoRG but I always kept them. I'm so excited now. Guess it wouldn't hurt to start farming some stuff.
I'm looking forward to that set and Endless Walk set as well since I play the WD a lot! More damage reduction is nice in HC!
Also those communitiesI mentioned before.. I joined a few more and I keep getting some friend requests with those who play the game! It's pretty nice getting gifts in the mail system again. :-)
It suppose be dungeons when you got the 6 pieces of the set on you. You go in and complete the tasks it needs. Then you can change the looks of the set I think.

Yeah man! I only got mail from friends for like a week and I only had two friends. How sad is that? Haha..

That sounds amazing. Still not finding the patch notes. My google-fu is weak today.
I know what you mean. I use to get a lot in the mail. I had some nice rare ones show up which was nice. It sucks that some of the friends I use to play with either quit or never showed back up online.
Patch notes can be looked up easily. Google diablo 3 2.4 you will find some links to Blizzard. You will the PTR patch notes and upcoming things to season 5. Also try that search in Youtube...and you will be shocked what you get but only look up videos released with the week since things get changed a lot.

Nah been playing on ptr set dungeons are part of seasonal challenges and you can already change the look of sets by transmog the rewards are cosmet wings. I'm not sure if console is even getting the set dungeons since they are tied in with seasons. Console Diablo is dead for me until it is online only competition and fair play don't exist.
I for one don't want to never be able to join a public game without having to worry about having my game ruined by others.

LoN = Legacy of Nightmares (set rings)
The Wailing Host / Litany of the Undaunted
They get changed in the next patch so that you get stronger for every ancient you have while not wearing any other sets.
