T6 Hellrifting is arguably the 'new COTA'. XP/hour ranges from 1.5 billion on the low end (solo) to probably around 5 billion (geared, organized group).
In this video I explain the build and gear options for a Meteor Fire Wizard to solo clear Torment 6 Hellrifts efficiently. The Smoldering Core staff with its 100% taunt on non-elite monsters is the perfect weapon for this style of XP farming. I also talk about some caveats specific to Hellrifting, how to get to level 2, what doesn't affect the XP, and when to bail.

From my experience (Wiz ~1500 world Elemental Elite dps, 800 Europe) this run is not worth it if you have a t6 group.
If you can focus on rifts and your group is able to clear a T6 rift in under ~5-7 min it is way better to just farm rifts. Not only you will get way more legendaries which equals to more possible upgrades for your character, more gems and the overall exp/h is very close (though bourns set + red gem in helm + other stuff like leorics ring/cain's set help a LOT!). Moreover, this run gets very boring after 10+ try in a row because you are repeating the same content over and over again.
Gold wise however, this place is a sweet spot, especially for characters who need gold (combining gems costs a lot at first).
The same group that can clear a T6 rift in 5-7 minutes will be able to clear a Hellrift in 20 seconds (like COTA). So the XP/hr will still be SIGNIFICANTLY higher.
End game yes I agree, for all intents and purposes fast T6 Rifting is what people will be doing. However, it's a lot easier to gear for Hellrift clearing than fast T6 clearing.

I dont see how cain, red gem in hat or leoric helps at all in T6 xp farming!!! U seem to be a high tier player o correct me if im wrong but u get 1600% xp from T6 & cain set is not multiplicative nor is head gem so cain will bring u to 1650% wtf. At least is this what the sheet says.
It's more of the fact that the mobs themselves are barely worth anything, which is all that Cain's/Leo's/Born's/HFR/Ruby would boost. The main XP/hr is coming from the 81 million you get from completing the bounty
This is something you do when your rift group isn't online, and you want to farm some XP solo with your eyes closed.
You're both correct. XP% on gear is additive, not multiplicative and at T6 it has less of an impact than on T1 for instance, because it's less of a % DIFFERENCE. For this reason I don't wear XP gear on higher difficulties unless the other stats are already good (like int/avg dmg/cc/cd Leorics I have).
