On the Americas server 4p leaderboard, this guy ncg darenniisama (wiz hydra boss killer) has cold% on his bracers, and uses a spectral blade variant (i think for barrier blades shielding). Can anyone explain why he is using cold? I was thinking perhaps it is so that his archon beam doesnt interrupt manald heal procs from hydra?
He saves one other spell/element (cold) by doing that, since double lightning (Hydra+Archon) is pointless. Archon does no damage in comparison to Hydras for a boss killer; the main purpose of Archon is to get the IAS stacks and Stricken stacks. The damage comes from Hydra anyways. Archon cannot interrupt Hydra MH procs though since Hydra *always* has priority and basically "overrides" any other spell.
It's a HC variant I guess since he's gone for Barrier Blades and the Spectral Shard in cube to give him high attack speed and proc the barrier blades. Of course it's missing 60% damage from Starfire in cube that way. But yeah, HC. And damage still seems enough for GR110 at paragon 1700 so they're fine...
