good posts all around. been reading diablofans pre 2008. im the type of guy that checks this page immediately upon waking up.. made a few posts now and again.
jaetech, after watching the video you shared it seems there may be some hope for us after all...even if it does end up being a "last highlander" kinda thing. ive been watching turks stream (as i have for quite some time) but thought his damage just wasnt there. seeing the 10mil crits is a little more relieving so....maybe today will be a good day tiorelax and think about stuff. i will be talking about it on my stream (twitch.tv/ogrelolofdarkspear) throughout the afternoon.
i had a really cool idea for a non traditional 0 dog build, using next of kin rune to "proc" free dogs. made for a really fun and exciting gameplay. instead of mindlessly spamming dogs, you get to see and try to maximize dps by seeing how many procs you get with the on kill effects from various spells (grasp confusion voodoo passive etc). plays like "do i sacrifice the 4 dogs that proc'd or summon again and blow up 5?" and it A LOT of fun. would have been cool to test with 5 dogs, as i was able to get up to 30 on iskatu (facilitated mob density) without having access to 70 content. video of me blowing up 30 dogs is on my stream channel. watch me blow up 16 here in the VERY FIRST actual test of the build. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUL7Jzd9Tz0&feature=youtu.bei got it to work and may or may not have weeped a small tear of joy and satisfaction. had to wait for ptr because on live you cant spawn more than 4 dogs...i spent over 6 months theorycrafting it out, trying to decide everything from corner positioning tactics to formulae for dps calculations of (easy example again) do i blow up the 4 that proc'd or resummon 5? is my ias high enough to do that? do i need less ias and bigger dmg? my build you can hold sacrifice for small bursts of damage my build burst +/- orignal 0 dog sustain with autoheal. basically im trying to make the game harder, and more fun. already stopped playing with lifesteal on live.
ps - the new homunculus is absolutely THRILLING.
psps - jae i want to personally thank you for running around and posting this info. ive watched you post it on live forums and now here as well. i just wanted to say one thing - id totally love nothing more than for a 0 dog set to exist in the game but i see two problems there. one problem is we wont be able to incorporate new legendary items (cool random effects to make 0 dog more interesting) because we will HAVE to stack the set. my second issue is....with NO TRADING i will more than likely NEVER complete such a set. not to beat a dead horse here...but one of my main "death of 0 dog in ros" points is that even right now without trading or the AH, no player would ever have been able to run a 0 dog rig. ive played for literally two years straight just about every day since release, never found a single 0 dog item. not one. just went back and watched my video and im SADDDD :((((((
tldr - im watching and waiting but WONT be buying RoS on release day. call me a nerd but i dont play any games except diablo...literally. im not a gamer...im a diablo player and have been for over 10 years. with as little drama as possible i wont be playing anything at all if RoS is a flop. end of an era and time to grow up it seems.
Turk i think you have the curve a bit wrong, its more like
100% reduction = 1/2 reduction
200% reduction = 3/4 reduction
400% reduction = 7/8 reduction
Hey Mate, your example and mine exactly the same , only difference is my example is doable because total of your cd reduction cant be over 90-100% even if you have cd reduction on all slots possible.

Hey Mathias thx for following my stream, about the video which was previously linked i need to make few commands. On this video he is using the bugged weapon which has 4000 dps and also he has the new homunculus, unfortunately i couldnt dropped the new homunculus ...Which makes huge difference. Just wanted to clarify
yeah man, for sure. it wasnt a direct attack on "turk sucks at 0 dog" it was more of "even turk has low dps as 0 dog".
dont worry man, i already know
would be nice to see you get a new homunc. then we could really get to testing.

man i dropped the new homunculus but it had 17 seconds!! bummer
now would be a good time (if you are a serious full time 0 dogger like me) to get maximum -second rolls on all jewelry and your helmet turk! i'd have been able to make that homunculus work.
are you guys retarded? this wasnt a troll post at all, it was a dedication to heyguyslol (one of the original 0 doggers) who has quit diablo 3 because the build will no longer work.
Wow, somebody quit a game because an old build wont work after an expansion.
Admittedly, I don't have any experience with Zero Dogs builds for the Witch Doctor...personally, I'm just happy I can make an all Spirit Spell build when the updates come. It's been a blast on the PTR so far.
Also, I'm not positive if a build like Zero Dogs was an intention by the developers or not, but I think one of the reasons they haven't tried to actively kill it specifically is because, even if it was deemed some kind of exploit, it wasn't causing a game-breaking amount of trouble.
Mathias, I'll give you a perfect example...my two main toons are my Wizard and Monk. On the live game, the Monk has a synergy with Breath of Heaven - Infused with Light and Way of the Hundred Fists - Fists of Fury that some people refer to as the "Nirvana Effect," which if performed within tight packs of enemies can restore whole Spirit Gauges (even gauges buffed by the Exalted Soul passive) to full pretty much repeatedly, as long as the Infused buff is on. I used that for quite some time while leveling my Monk, and most of that time, I wondered if it was allowed, just a glitch, some oversight, whatever. I've since moved away from it, both on the PTR and the live game...but like I said about Zero Dogs, the Nirvana Effect wasn't a hugely game-breaking mechanic. It at least had the downside of needing to wait for Breath of Heaven to come off cooldown in order to take advantage of it.
It doesn't seem to me like Zero Dogs was the type of thing that was easy to abuse to effectively make the game too easy...which is why, I can assume, you and others are upset to see it get modified so strongly, if not eliminated from the expansion/updates. However, I am glad to see you're finding other ways to make the build work, or at least finding different variations that you're enjoying, even if they don't match the original style on the live game.
I think that's pretty much what the devs are going for here. They understand that people want very specific legendaries, to make very specific builds, but they also want people to be open-minded to trying other things while they hunt for those one or two pieces...or be willing to experiment with what the game offers and see if they can make their goals work effectively, even if it's not how they originally wanted to do it.
Best of luck getting a cool WD build working. In regard to trade...try to get together with some trustworthy folks and play together when you can. Trading still exists in the expansion, it's just limited by time and who's with you when an item drops. I definitely plan on trading with friends, and playing together as often as possible, so we can exchange things when we can.

9 + 8 = 17 + 17 = 34
the new 0 dog ringthe new homunculus/ pickup radius buffs to passives
the fact that i will be using a "next of kin" rune in my 0 dog build to sacrifice many dogs in succession
plus since we only need one slot (ring) to achieve 0 dog now - think of all the legendary items we can use within the build.
anyone else been theorycrafting builds up like crazy? once again...only thing that really sucks is we cant trade.
