It has only bin a few days and Im already sick of all the .. oh crap, forgot the name.. YES, now I remember (seriously I forgot!) SKYRIM.
Im not nagging about this but I must ask people these questions.
1. Are you gonna play SKYRIM just to kill time, or because of its über WACKO cool?
2. Do you like, dislike or are you neutral to skyrim.
3. Is the DEMO worth the downloadtime?
I know a bit of Skyrim, and its not my kind of game. I need Diablo 3 so bad its getting annoying. But why are everyone talking about this game??? Is it because of the Diablo 3 delay and being kind of a "great timing" perspective gameplay-wise?
Please explain, I dont get this. I feel way to old and stupid to know about the Hype of this game and how people can slowly talk FROM Diablo 3 to that game.
I've seen videos, I've heard people talk about it (only on the internet, not my friends, they talk about D3 all the way).
I hope altso nobody wanna troll because Im curious and "dont get it".
And oh yeah, crap. Im so used to talk about D3 "only" this thread ended up in the wrong category, sorry bout that. It doesnt seem like can change it now..
Our gaming lives, apparently unlike yours, don't revolve around a single game. Diablo 3 is an awesome point/click murder machine but Skyrim is a great-looking game that is awesome in it's gameplay and has an open world that's so huge and full of things to do that a person, without the help of the internet, can play for years and still have yet to see everything. There are many classes and a lot of spells, tons of awesome items, and the world is open to you in the first few hours of gameplay. People like freedom as much as they like the relative linear style of Diablo 3.
And for the most part, we aren't going to sit on our butts complaining about the Diablo 3 release date and not doing anything to fill the time.
Been playing it since Friday and the world is simply jam packed with detail and feels so alive.
I've done exactly 2 quests from the main story line and basically done side quests for the last 15 hours. Leveling based on your actions is great and even crafting your own items from mining ore to crafting elven armor then refining and enchanting is much better than I expected. Didn't even plan on spending perks on smithing but once I started I was hooked!
Got my kahjit Stealth Archer Thief almost all decked out in Elven Armor. Now after having nearly stolen every valuable item in 3 towns I'm looking for a Thieves Guild so I can find a Fence to sell all my ill-gotten goods
Also looking forward to killing dragons so that I can enable my lightning breath dragon shout!
Skyrim is boss awesome. I've been playing it on console (my friend's) since mine hasn't come in the mail yet, but the game does feel really good and there's so much to do. I haven't played a game quite like this, it's just so empowering.

Skyrim is so vastly different from D3 there's truly no point in comparing them. Skyrim is cool because the game is f-ing HUGE. You can literally wonder off in any direction you choose and find all kinds of cool quests, shrines, friendlies, enemies, towns, dungeons, etc. etc. etc. It's a free world to roam and do whatever you want. You can save towns from dragons, or slaughter the entire populace yourself if you see fit. It's a really cool free roam free will world to explore and just lose yourself in. Any fans of FPS gameplay and/or action rpgs will likely enjoy this game very much.
Skyrim is more of an open-world game than diablo. The best similarity I can think of is think of The Sims as a medieval-sort of world with dragons and magic. It is single-player only game offline (which is begging to be pirated) with an FPS view and an optional third-person view. If you want to immerse yourself in a fantasy world and do whatever you want (kill dragons, kill townspeople, get married) then this could be the game for you. But if you really like multiplayer, or stricter storyline, it may not be the game for you. It may also be great if you like modding.
And I dont think everyone is raging about this game, I just think that active members of a PC gaming community are also very likely to be more into hardcore games like skyrim.

Blizzard used to care about releasing Diablo III, then they all took an arrow in the knee...

Well first of all, why the hell is this in the D3 general discussion?
Second, in my opinion it's nearly uber WACKO cool. It's a game with flaws, sure. But I think it's hella fun. I'm loving it, seriously, yes.
You're sick of hearing about Skyrim? So? Not enough D3 news for you or something? Need more updates about how they've changed another D3 system again? Another revision to the resource systems? Not hearing enough about theoretical D3 character builds? Cause I know THAT'S interesting stuff!
If you're so curious then just try the demo. I mean, a demo's free, right? So try it if you really want to know. It's not a game for everybody. And even if you don't like it, hey, at least Bethesda knows how to announce a game, work hard on it and get it done within a reasonable timeframe. I'll certainly give them that at the very least.
Plus, there's an opportunity for mods. Bethesda has an amazing modding community that has constantly worked to improve their games in many ways. Any flaws with the game upon release will eventually be corrected by the community. I can't speak for console gamers on this, but the PC version of this game definitely has its benefits.

I never have good luck with mods for some reason. They always make my game crash. And I never do like tons of crazy mixes of them either. I also hate how you go to get one mod and you see like eight different versions of them and different things telling you how you should have one or the other depending on if you have this or that,...or this other thing.
My only beef is the first person style on a RPG, it just makes the combat look so stupid. Swinging a sword never looked so dumb!!!
I respect your opinion on Bethesda using the first-person view for the game, they also have a third-person option for those with opinions such as yours.
The first-person view of it has worked throughout out all of the other Elder Scrolls games and it works in this one.

Bashiok - Blizzard Representative - 08/01/2011 -"So how many skill combinations are there now? Well taking into account 6 active skills, all the rune combinations, and 3 passives we currently expect each class to have roughly 2,285,814,795,264 different build combinations."

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.
Skyrim is my first oblivion game and I must say its pretty awesome I thought it looked dumb until I saw a lets play and i havent been able to put it down. Though I doubt ill play it again after I beat the main story
The DEMO will take days to download on my small PC. And I have to be at home to do it. But if the gameplay is offline I might wish for it at xmas or my birthday that are in a few days.
And being so freely game, I fear that if I try it out, Im sure I will choose a direction with the hardest quests, die instantly then think the game suck, it has always bin like this.
So I wonder, is the game EASY no matter where you go, and gets harder as you advance in exp, and not rely on LUCK when you go around in a massive world all by yourself?

It depends. Caves and quests and such will scale with your level, and usually if you just go around and do the quests you find you will probably not get into too much trouble. But there is definitely times when you will stumble upon stuff that you can't beat at the moment. It's not worse than just just running away and coming back later though.
Then there's also the difficulty setting which you could adjust.. (if you are a sissy!! ).
Our gaming lives, apparently unlike yours, don't revolve around a single game.
LIES.
However, despite my wild indifference to the previous Elder Scrolls games, I have found myself enjoying Skyrim quite a bit. Looking back, I don't think I had quite the right mindset when playing previous titles. On the infrequent occasions when I play single-player games I tend to just blast through the campaign stuff, but that's the wrong approach here.
The RIGHT approach is stealing everything that isn't nailed down and never EVER doing any of the main quests. It's a blast, I am finding large chunks of time disappearing.
But if Diablo came out tomorrow I would drop Skyrim without a moment's hesitation. Diablo is my pet series

As Ducha said it's perfectly playable in both first person and third person. I tend to switch around a bit.

Haha, Seriously, thats great news. And why is the game cheap? It's like $40. Oh wait.. Is Diablo III CE maybe expensive?
