So I get a new PC today. It was ordered as a combination of a machine for work and gaming, but I'm pretty anxious to test it out. The old rig ran Fallout 3 and Fallout NV fine, so I've played them. The game that I am really waiting for is Diablo 3 (I know, shocking).
I'm also very interested in Skyrim.
However, I heard that these games were also good:
1. Dragon Age 2
2. Fable 3
3. Civilization 5
Any opinions on those three and any suggestions on which one to go with first?
Its not -bad-, but its FAR from great. You don't label such a dumbed down RPG with extremely repetitive copy-pasted environment and a boring storylines that goes to hell in the end "great".
Though I enjoyed the characters and the dialogues. Combat is -very- boring.
I'll go with Dragon Age 2 or Civilization 5. I've heard Mass Effect 2 is good as well (I know, I haven't gamed in a while so I'm behind), would you guys recommend that one before the others?
It is, as long as you like shooters. Lot of people don't like the change from RPG to shooters. But as a fan of shooters, I was in no way disappointed, first run through was awesome.

Dragon Age 2 doesn't deserve to have the same name as Origins. The game is a far cry from the original.
In Dragon Age 2:
-You can only play the human race.
-You can only change the equipment of your main character.
-You essentially never leave the same city the entire game.
-Your party no longer can learn professions, you must go around the city in order to create potions/poisons/traps.
-Every fight seems the same and every fight seems the same. They throw 20 spiders at you in one room and you AoE them, in the next room they throw 20 bandits at you and you AoE them down.
-The dialogue and romance options seem dry and bland.
-They removed the isometric view that fans of old RPGs loved.
In my opinion.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My place really was here. I was too foolish and stubborn to notice. But, what I truly hoped for then was here. Why do I always realize it When I've already lost it.
Of those 3? DA2, I really enjoyed it. It took me a bit to get into it because it is a good bit different than DA:O but all in all it's very similar gameplay and even though 80% of the story revolves around one town, I found myself giving a shit about that town and what happened there. Same awesome side quests as DA:O in my opinion as well. Very interesting side stories. Some things may be "dumbed down" but I found it sort of refreshing after a while that I didn't have to micromanage every aspect of my party. I could customize enough to suit me.
I can talk for hours about how great this game is.
I ended up going with Mass Effect 2. After that I'm going to get DA2... Then if I still have time to kill before Skyrim (or Diablo 3) is released, I'll get Civ5.
if its only those 3 games?
then DA2 for sure is by far better.
if u dont mind spoilers etc you might wonna check my 2 vids of the last boss fight as a rogue class.
I didn't enjoy Civ V very much, some parts are better than IV but some parts are a lot worse. As a whole it's not very fun compared to IV. The AI was especially brain dead. I'm hoping some patches and expansions fix it, or if that fails there may be some decent mods.
Haven't played Civ5 since i'm not really into turn based strategy, but i really enjoyed both Dragon Age 2 and Fable 3 (the later on Xbox360). I hear it's a bit simplified on PC and it's not as good.
My main issue with Dragon Age 2 was that the ending was pretty much the same, no matter what you chose to do. Sure, your party would end up being different, but that's about it. Not like the endings of DA:O that made me wanna play it over and over again.
If we were to compare sequels to the previous games, I'd say DA:O and Fable 2 were superior to their sequels. And they should be way cheaper by now too.
Fable 2 is better than the third then? I was tempted to give Fable 3 a try. The second one was still disappointing in most of the ways the first was. Actually I still think the first was better though. But I swear, there's just something about the people over there at Lionhead Studios that can't seem to deliver a solid game ever. Each of their games will have two or three things about their games that make it really fun, but then those fun things about it are completely overshadowed by the rest of the game's shortcomings.

Fable 3 has a very, very ugly reputation.

if your pc is strong enough and you're into rpg, you MUST play witcher 2 on highest settings. by far one of the best games of the year.

But yes, out of those 3 I'd definitely say DA2.

A lot better combat and the way they did weapon leveling and spell combinations was cool.
