This thread is simple; what are your most anticipated games of 2009?
1. Diablo 3 ( ?? )
Obviously there's very little chance that big D 3 gets released in 2009, but a man can dream, right? This game is pretty much everything I've been waiting for. Full of action, and full of the RPG and collection elements we all love. Plus, impaling and slashing mob after mob is as addicting as it gets.
2. Empire: Total War (Feb 2009)
I've always loved all of the total war games, and this one looks extremely impressive. The
graphics look amazing, and the addition of naval battles is something I'm really anxious to try out. The game play has also been refined, from battles right to the world map. It will also be interesting to see how the ranged combat works vs. the CQC we're all used to in these.
3.Dragon Age: Orgins (Q2 2009)
I don't care who you are, you HAVE to have mad respect for Bioware. In my opinion, Bioware may be the best game developer out there next to Blizzard. Bioware is probably the best maker of RPGs (Mass Effect is absolutely brilliant, as is Baldur's Gate, etc). Dragon Age is pretty much the new-age successor to Baldur's Gate. This game should really kick some ass. Before the main story even starts, a three-hour section establishes your character's history witha few formative decisions. Race and class determines your starting point within the campaign, and part recruits will hinge on whether you've aligned yourself as a hero, tyrant, or matyr. So, pretty much, its going to be a bad-ass RPG.
4. Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (Q2 2009)
I admit that I never really played much Starcraft until recently - it just never tickled my fancy I was more into Age of Empires ... but please don't flame for that. Starcraft is another great game by Blizzard that should undoubtably be great. This will be my first RTS I've played since Warhammer. Should be good.
5. The Sims 3: (Feb 09)
Everyone loves the Sims. (Unless your a Communist). Sims 3 looks to improve upon the other games. Fresh new graphics, and a HUGE world to explore with your Sim, along with all-new traits and ways to create you Sim.
ohhhhhhhh thanks Siaynoq you reminded me of HL2: Episode 3.....been waiting on that for awhile.....also reminds me im waiting on black mesa source
Forgot also RE5 and SF4....damm i love capcom :P.....I guess I can say im highly anticipating FF13 to...but the series isnt as interesting to me as it once was....
Duke Nukem Forever (if it is indeed released this year)
you are my new god! i was thinking of posting that particular game (well, except the obvious Diablo 3, StarCraft II and the next WoW expansion - thats doubtful too but they promised one each year :P)
Bioshock2 - This one is weird. I've never played the first one (demo only). When I heard about the second in the making, I myelf was confused that I was happy about the announcement. Guess there's only one thing to do... play the first one and hope 2 exceeds the first game, which was highly praised.
Yeah, let's hope Bioshock 2 exceeds the demo for Bioshock.
Seriously though, this game really wasn't that great. It had its moments, but didn't come together fully as a great game for me.
Well, both games could have easily been better I think. With Bioshock though, there were a few things I just couldn't accept. Why were there bullets and ammo upgrades sold in vending machines? I know they were trying to make the game zany and quirky, but it kind of ruined the mood for me. "Welcome to the circus of values!" Stupid.
They took the whole art deco thing too far too. And talk about a game with no plot. Really, you had no idea what this underwater city really was, what the rest of the world was like during this time, and the ending sucked. Just terrible.
I'll rent Bioshock 2 when it comes out. The first one took me about a day to beat anyway.
Can someone explain to me why these Madden games are popular? I mean, even for someone who likes sports video games. There's like a Madden a year isn't there? Are any of them really that different or better? Is it because they update it with the latest players?

The pattern is that every two years they do a massive overhaul. 2010 is the year for the massive overhaul. I don't have 09 and I don't plan on getting 09.
The games themselves are fun if you are a fan of football and have gamer fans that are also fans of football. You guys might think StarCraft is competitive but you haven't seen a group of drunk guys sit around and play Madden. In StarCraft, the match is over when its over. In Madden, you don't lose until you've been bitch slapped by the winner.

Updated Players and Better Graphics, The Graphics make a difference, Seeing those players run at eachother so fast BAM in HD and Blu Ray, Its freakin Awesome man.
Also, They always have a few more things to do, but nothing really huge. I like 08/09 over 07 because it made play calling so much easier, that was a big update IMO
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I am not a fan of Jazz music.
on a good day.... Optimistic and freedom-loving Jovial
and good-humored Honest and straightforward
Intellectual and philosophical
On a bad day.... Blindly optimistic and careless
Irresponsible and superficial Tactless and restless
Of course, I like college football a lot more than the NFL, so that's probably why. NCAA, FTW.
I prefer college football over professional football. As far as the games go, Madden is always more polished and is generally a better game. I usually get both.

CyberPunk RP Nexus
I can't deny wanting desperately to play Starcraft 2. I'm not counting on Diablo 3 being out this year.
I am hoping maybe for Episode 3 of Half-Life 2. And wouldn't a Doom 4 kick ass? Yes. Yes it would.
Siaynoq's Playthroughs
Forgot also RE5 and SF4....damm i love capcom :P.....I guess I can say im highly anticipating FF13 to...but the series isnt as interesting to me as it once was....
