It's a great game, anybody else played it around here? It's a great time killer, especially in multiplayer. Heroes 3 Armageddon's Blade/The Shadow of Death is the only one that was really that great for me..later installments kinda ruined the fun IMO.
HOMM3 complete ate many of my days and so did the second one. Love that series to death...to bad the 4th game was a joke of a game and the 5th one was....3d still good...but didnt have the charm
I used to play Heroes 3 a lot... it's a great game, the only thing that bothers me is how long you have to wait for your turn if you are 8 players or so
HOMM3 is the best one ever. I still play a couple of matches with or against my brother who used to plays too. This heroes of might and magic is the proof that graphics don't have to be top notch in order to make a game attractive :). I also play a mod called WOG which is freaking awesome, you guys should try it!
P.S: What's your favorite castles? Mine is either Tower or Necropolis.

The 3rd was indeed great, and while I definately think the 5th had a good feel to it, the AI was simply too slow. It takes forever for him to move on large maps. No matter how big the map in HoMM3 however, it always went lightning fast for the enemy.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

HOMM3 was awesome. Though upgrading every single unit twice/three times was a little annoying sometimes. HOMM2 was truly awesome. Sandro is my guy! That guy is simply bad ass.
Go titans and Black Dragons. Epic battle between these two. Best archer unit vs best flying unit in the game. Or you could always go with 999 Halflings, lol.
Never got around to 4 and 5. Heard 4 sucked. Might try it some time though. Same with 5.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
PD..try going against several opponents in an XL map with subterranean..go on for 8 months or so..it'd take them FOREVER by then. Titans with the Golden Bow are fucking badass as shit, Elfen. Psyxix, it depends who I'm playing against..it varies between the Rampart, Necropolis, or the Castle..sometimes even the Stronghold..the Behemoths rock my socks.

Well at least you had to go to the far extreme until HoMM 3 bogged down. H5 can't handle three ai on a large map. And unless I miss my guess, it was pretty bad from day one of a game like that.

I loved the games SP, never understood them MP, too much waiting, lol
Yeah, that was a problem. They included a simultaneous feature in H5 though, where both you and your opponent could move at the same time. It only works until you encounter one another however, when that happens the regular turns return. But it does speed up the beginning of a game.

Favourite castle on what instalment?
If it's HOM&M 3 then I'd say Rampart. I found them the most easy for me to play with against human players. I usually attack very soon if the map allows it, while most players are gathering resources. Everyone just panics and rushes back to their town, but it's too late- I have it conquered. I often plan it so that I attack just a day before the new week begins when new creatures arrive to castles, and take them for my own.
9 out of 10 times people just mass their armies in one hero in the first few weeks and don't leave creatures in a castle garison.
Though if it comes to likeability, after playing the series from the very beginning they all kinda grew to me.
I play with whichever I feel like playing at the moment.

lol it can still easily be a ranger since who said you cant shoot arrows at melee distance xD

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees

You don't want to know how bad the game was from day one (I followed the game for a very long time, lol).
If under bad you guys mean difficult then yeah...it was bad.
But yeah, it did feel kinda strange.
I even kind of liked the new 'feeling' when you play in the unconnected stories.
It was more like reading a book. Though to be honest there were a great deal of bugs before the patches.

Didnt H5 have like a brutal frame rate? I can remember it running poorly even on top end rigs of the time. Just popped in H4...man talk about an unbalanced game, if your hero dies its gg, also the unpatched game had memory leaks I think....thats ummm yeah NOT GOOD LOL

Fortress is fun to play with..Gorgons and Wyverns kick ass..it's a shame how fucked up Hydras are.
Yeah hydras sucked balls big time, like pretty much every slow unit. My fav was always dungeon for the annoying harpies and the kick ass manticores
I found it extremely easy because you could just make an army out of heroes lol...
Well it's called HEROES of Might and Magic right? In the 2 expansions all you do is play with the heroes. Where else could you play with Mongo the Barbarian and Mysterio the Magnificient?
Hmmm, I'm starting to see why you dislike the game. lol

That's not what I meant when I said it needed patches.
There were maps with creatures acting strangely, runnung away, or attacking a castle (that was pretty fucked up ); unfinished maps with holes in the mountains were you could pass through; sometimes mission important artifacts of parts of the story were missing so you had to start over and do things differently or else the AI triggers wouldn't set off. Bugs mostly.

IDK. Played fine on max with FX5200, a celly and 512mb of ram.
We may not agree on HOM&M 4, but here's an ogre for you anyway

I'm not sure if I played the expansions...
I dislike the game? Where did I say that?
Nothing beats random map, all player slots used, random factions on hard mode, it usually ensures hours of gametime while using your brains for simple stuff Somehow I only ever got bored using the castle (human) faction, with all the other ones it is great to see how they managed to capture a certain theme and even make the cities hold some of that flair. Developing the heroes was okay, but once again I found 3 did a better job of putting it all together in that area.
The hero development aspect was the greatest part of H5 in my opinion. Each skill having several abilities to choose from was great in that you could further tailor your hero to your needs. So you had to decide what abilities you wanted, and if it was worth taking some you really didn't need in order to get those few awesome abilities. H3 was just a bunch of skills that weren't related to each other. But each on his own I guess

It was flawless so long as I didn't tilt the screen while on the adventure map, at which point the framerate just fell straight down.

Oh yeah I've played HOMM 1, 2 ,3 and 5 so all of them.
Most of them ofc HOMM 3 and armageddons blade expansion.
My favorite was probably the Necropolis, getting a huge skeleton army was nice
HOMM4 was a big disappointment.. the AI was annoying they knew how to hide just at the edge of the fog of war and when you left the town they would attack you.. sounds fair
HOMM5 was a big improvement already but I got stuck on the stupid campaing where the elves got huge army when the druids contrlolled the nature.. I never figured out how to beat that guy(i was quite close a couple of times).
Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions

I found it extremely easy because you could just make an army out of heroes lol... I didn't notice, it ran really well on my machine. But it was made by Russian developers. Which means it can run great or horrible lol.
