There are only 200 spots available for this benefit dinner. Blizzard Entertainment will be holding a drawing for a chance to purchase up to two tickets for this exciting event. You can enter the drawing by selecting to "opt-in" through your Battle.net account. Blizzard Entertainment executives, key game developers, artists, and community team members will be attending the dinner and meet with attendees. In addition, Blizzard Entertainment has donated 200 BlizzCon tickets to the museum, so every attendee to the dinner will receive a full BlizzCon ticket (complete with goody bag). Each attendee will also get a signed art print by one of Blizzard Entertainment's top artist.
To get into this benefit dinner, you need to opt-in with your battlenet account.
A drawing will then be held, and people will be selected.
These people will then be given a chance to purchase up to 2 tickets, at $500 a pop.
It will continue on, until all tickets are gone.
If you do choose to purchase a ticket, the money is donated to the art museum, and you get to take part in the benefits dinner, get an art print by the Blizzard artists, get to look at the WoW art exhibit, and get your Blizzcon tickets.
So basically, you're getting dinner, a tour, a signed art print, and a blizzcon ticket for $500.
I strongly suggest reading the FAQ section found on the link, as it will clear up any confusion you may have.
So, if anyone is still desparate to get a ticket, now is your chance.
Anywho, any thoughts ? Anybody thinking of donating or entering the opt-in ?

"One in every 10 million people can potentially have a headache from this pill." God forbid she is the 0.000000001% of having a headache.
From what I read on the website, you get chosen out of 200 people to pay 500.00$ for it. I don't think two are given away free.
"
Q. Are there any fees associated with entering into this drawing?
A. No. Those with an eligible Battle.net Account will be able to opt in at no charge. If you are selected in the drawing you may choose to purchase one or two Laguna Art Museum VIP dinner tickets."
Well basically they have donated 200 tickets to the museum...and there are exactly 200 attendees for the diner. Which means that 200 attendees will get a total of 200 blizzcon tickets... 1 ticket per person means that EVERYBODY GETS ONE !! YAY ! ^_^!
Naw, if you read carefully (took me a while as well), you'd see that they said that they sent 200 blizzcon tickets to this dinner thing, each attendee will be getting a blizzcon ticket.
Thus, if you pay the $500 to go, you get a ticket.
Alternatively, you can enter the free draw to get 2 tickets.

No Zhur, you're absolutely incorrect.
The information clearly states several times that the raffle will be for the chance to purchase 1-2 $500 VIP tickets, and makes no allusion in any way or form to something different.

Blizzard Entertainment will be holding a drawing for a chance to purchase up to two tickets for this exciting event. You can enter the drawing by selecting to "opt-in" through your Battle.net account.
The winners will be afforded the opportunity to purchase up to two (2) tickets to the Laguna Art Museum Benefit Dinner, which also entitles the ticket purchaser to receive a ticket to BlizzCon 2009 for each of the tickets that the winner actually purchases to the Laguna Art Museum Benefit.
Hmm, never came across that first quote you posted.
Will have to edit the news post, good find man.
But do try to get the name right next time...
edit: Aha, just rifled through the FAQ section and that cleared up all previous confusion, I recommend everyone else does since the information Blizzard posted can be somewhat confusing at times.

Basically, it's a free opt-in, to get the chance to pay $500.
If you pay $500, you go to the dinner, and get your blizzcon ticket.
So essentially, the opt-in isn't for Blizzcon tickets, it's for the dinner tickets.
Blizzcon tickets are just a side-effect ^^.
They really should have made it easier to figure out, seems a few of us have been confused by it :/.

So the opt-in is for the chance to win one (or two) of these 200 special event tickets, and, upon winning, you will go to this event and receive a BlizzCon ticket, as well, so there's still 200 BlizzCon tickets. So the title does not need to change?
Am I still missing something  That's what I figured it was on first read.
Naw, the title doesn't need to change, had to edit some of the actual info though.
There are still 200 blizzcon tickets up for grabs, you just have to pay for them.
And technically, you're not winning the tickets, you're winning the opportunity to buy the tickets...
It's really quite odd :/.

That's weird old Blizzard for you. Of course, they'll all sell, knowing all the crazy fans out there and all the BlizzCon tickets being bought-up in minutes.
I would opt-in if I felt like (and could afford) all that traveling. Maybe in a few years. I really wish they would have BlizzCon's world-wide simultaneously. God knows they have the money for it.
Same, I found myself wishing that I had some spare money to opt in.
World Wide Blizzcons.... *drools*.
You're right, they've definitely got the money to spare for one.
Hell, just one month of warcraft subscriptions could probably pay for several Blizzcon locations :/.

I wish they could have a Blizzcon somewhere in Scandinavia, it's way too expensive to go across the globe for one convention, no matter how awesome it is..
*sobs*
That's how I felt about the WWI a little while back. You could try to make it here- that's just south of Scandinavia, although I don't know how travel works out there.
