I recently got my first character, a monk (softcore), to level 70, and am now at paragon level 8, and I've been watching videos and reading forum posts to get a feel for the landscape of playing Diablo post level 70.
I want to be able to make my character's stats better as quickly as possible. I imagine this means accruing xp as quickly as possible along with getting the right gear as quickly as possible. I just am not sure what the best strategy is.(this is my build, by the way)
What kind of build should I be using? I've been favoring items that give me life/hit, life/sec, life/kill, etc. I'm not sure if thats a good way to gain as much xp/farm as much gold/gear/blood shards etc as possible, though. Should I go for all spirit generation? Get as high damage while sacrificing toughness, healing? The information out there is overwhelming and a lot of the time i only know 60-70% of what they're talking about.
Does anyone have any basic suggestions for me, or at least suggestions as to where I can find good, accessible info?
get into rifts ASAP (the chance of getting legendary items (which you want to focus on early in the game is 100% bigger here ) - preferably teams and go into gambling. hell rift runs can perhaps also be added on later for xp focus. create crafted set items when u get the recipies. (cain's, aughilds, asherea are usually the most popular - epspecially if you have the ring of royal grandour - NB my advides are general and not monk specific, so some of it may be less optimal for monk regarding set items.
Trust me, this wall of text has been very helpful. Thanks for sparing the time to go through so much detail. A couple quick questions though -- if my immediate priority is to get better gear, does that mean it's more beneficial to play on normal and breeze through bounties/rifts sot hat I can get as much gear as possible, to increase my chances of finding stuff that will be more beneficial to me? I'm going to focus on increasing damage first, so CHD and CHC are now priority on items.
Also, as I'm finding and replacing my gear with gear that is better suited (like gloves/etc that have CHD and CHC increases), I imagine I'll see other attributes go down. Up until this point, I'd never replace one item with another if it caused too much of a decrease to damage/toughness/healing. I imagine I'll see my healing go down especially, but is this normal? Is there a limit to how much I should sacrifice?
I am not playing EU, I'm playing US, but can I switch? Or are my characters saved to one server? Once again, thank you for the detailed post.
Also, thank you all of you for the help! The video guides to rolling gear that Kilo posted have also been helpful. I don't play multiplayer, but as I get better I'll start to force myself to play with strangers so that I can farm gear even quicker.
Okay, thank you for even more answers. Three last questions.
Where am I more likely to get better gear? From the loot drops as I'm doing bounties, or from spending blood shards?
At this point, should I be salvaging most of the gear i pick up instead of selling it for gold?
Also, at this point, should I be ignoring the +/_ % to damage, toughness, and healing that show when comparing an item with what I have equipped? I should be focusing on seeing if a new item has the primary attributes necessary for that item (like CHD on gloves, for example) and seeing if it has more of a main attribute, like dexterity, than the item I currently have equipped?
