So I have been seeing threads posted by other monks who have much lower numbers than I do in both toughness and damage on their character sheet and seem to have (almost) no life on hit/lifesteal/life per second but claim to be farming T3 or above with ease.
I am wondering why I can't do the same since I seem to have better stats and should be able to do the same. Personally I have A LOT of trouble with Electrified and Fire Chains rares/elites because they can't be attacked without receiving damage from them but there are also some nasty Jailer combinations that wreck me as well.
The reason I don't use Lashing Tail Kick is because I like to Dashing Strike into a group then just Cyclone Strike them all to death which prevents runners and has a fast clear time on white mobs. I also run Seven-Sided Strike purely for burst damage but am willing to swap it out for something else.
EDIT: I don't know why the armory says I am Paragon 6, my actual level is 76.
it could be a life on hit issue where they have more life on hit, what points they spend in their paragon tree or what level that are at, or a resistance/dodge issue. There is so many things that can change if this works or not. You are going to have to try and "massage" your build and stats until you find a balance that works better for you. Perhaps you need just a bit more resist or even armor. Hope this helps even just a tad. There are so many options for builds that it's hard to pin point what exactly others are doing vs you. ^.^ Good luck with leveling
Let me clear up some misunderstandings then... All Resistances are 551 (thanks to One With Everything).... Also my crit damage is 336%, crit chance 46,50% and I have 37% attack speed. This is including paragons. Damage is at 146k and toughness at 912k in game.
The people who I have seen posting these threads with their supposed T3+ builds have less stats across the board, lower resistance, lower crit, crit dmg, attack speed, total damage, toughness. That's why I don't understand how they can be claiming to easily clear it.
Don't take for granted what people say. For example, I recently saw a video of someone running T3 (different class, not monk) and he ignored elites and occasionally even died from white mobs' damage. Yet he was claiming to farm T3. I'm also frequently invited to T4 groups and everyone is dead all the time, yet they refuse to lower the difficulty with their 300k-500k toughness.
All that can be compensated with stunning mobs or pushing damage for more life steal - but it'll be over soon, don't worry. You can't ignore toughness anymore in RoS; no life steal, and the diminishing returns of CC effects on mobs combined with their insane health (up in the billions) will not allow for glass canons (at least not for most people).
I personally aim for 1000 allres and 1m toughness on all my chars, it's a good preparation for RoS and will make the transition much smoother. The glass canons with 500k toughness (or less) are gonna have to re-build their entire gear set on level 70 or stay away from Torment.
