Cain approaches the hero after slaying Baal, and hands the hero 4 runes (runes so powerful that only 1 of each has ever been brought into existence) explaining that these 4 runes will wipe the nightmares from the hero's head, by removing all memories of the battles he/she has fought.
Hero then takes the runes places them in the cube and transmutes them....
Cain smiles triumphantly, then tells the Hero "thanks for making this so easy for him, explaining how those stupid "so called Lords" would never bow down to him, so it was in his best interest to get rid of them."
The transmutation then begins to happen to the Hero (horns, grows in size, big ugly teeth, insert 1001 more ideas here... just make it gruesome and very memorable), and when it is complete he has become the guardian of the cube, there only to serve Cain.
Cain creates a red portal and tells the Demon to enter the portal and to kill anyone/anything that attempts to come after the cube.
The Demon enters the portal to be sent to a castle half in ruins.
(I could go into far greater detail but last time I tried that my session logged out and I lost everthing I had typed in.... so hopefully this is enough for people to get the gist of it.)
i like that
it really would make a great story
so basically cain wanted to get rid of all the other prime evils so he could rule? that caught my interest, casue then the whole time we were duped lol
nice story, if you could tpye up anohter with detail it would be sweet too

No. It just doesn't make sense. Here we have some random mortal (meaining Cain), and he has a plan to kill the Three, and to do that he uses some random hero (meaining player) that comes along? Don't think so.
How did Cain manage to pick the one mortal that would kill the Three and support him?
And if he did select the mortal, how did he do it? He was holed up in Tristram and had never even been in contact with the hero prior to his rescue.
Usually evil masterminds have a bit slightly better devised plan in mind when trying to conquer the world. Cain's meeting with the hero seems to have been way more of a chance-happening than an actually planned idea.
Also, he is constantly around Tyrael in Act 4 while the hero is out killing demons. Wouldn't Tyrael have noticed (or "sensed") anything?

thats easy... you are lookin for the strongest hero that has a chance of defeating them then you just put yourself somewhere and wait to see who survives long eough to rescue you... then you have a hero who has a chance. and if that hero dies just do it agian. cain strikes me as a person who would have patientce dont you think?
So is he immortal or something? Yes he has patience, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything when you may die any day (he's not exacly in his youth). Why would a hero come rescue him in the first place, except for the chance happening of Akara telling someone to find him (unless, I admit, she is also part of the "plot"). But, how the heck did Cain manage to stick with that one hero that just barely manages to save the world. I mean, if he was off giving help to me, while someone else saves the world, it would all have been for nought.
Also, why didn't Cain do anything in the first game, but waited to the second? If he had just done the very simple thing of telling the hero about the soulstone then, he could have been done ages before now.

but if he is immortal then it would not matter? his "age" may be an illusion to deceive people

that actualy sounds like a good way to do it. maybe he corrupted her and she is like on of his minions? she could be something like a mid boss later.

you have a point there and i myself would have to think on that for a while. unless you just say that if the other hero didnt save cain then there is no way that the other person could have possible gotten to baal much less killed him.

yea but the first game was just to set diablo free so that he would find and join up with his "brothers" so that they could all be felled in one blow so to speak. would work to cuz if the hero from diablo1 could not contain diablo how could he hope to beat baal?
sry i know its kinda a long post but i am a writer at heart and i can just see a story in my head... Great start hope some of my ideas can make it into this version of the story for 3.

Then how did he become immortal? So far as I know, there are no immortal humans in the Diablo universe.
How about if it was some kind of pact with one of the brothers? it could also explain why he wanted them gone cuz he couldnt get kill them himself or they would just break the pact and he would die? or maybe hes not human?

i think that cain has always been good. maybe the prime evils wanted him though, that is why he was left in a cage in tristram. or maybe he cant die by hands of a demon or the prime evils themselves. i think its just that i kinda like cain and it would suck to see him evil.
Why would the Three grant him that? In so far as I know, they don't have that power to begin with, and what would be their purpose? If they could, they wouldn't just run around and sprawl it on just anybody.

Cain is the last surviving clan member of the Horadrim. The very clan that entrapped the 3 lords within thier soul stones. Why would the 3 lords spare Cain??? Cain will not become evil cause who swore to prevail over evil. (so I think)

thats a good reason right there why he is evil... maybe it was a pact he signed to save himself at the cost of the other Horadrim? it would work.
oh and why did they spare him? cuz part of the pact was that they could not kill him but they still wanted him out of the way. therefor trap him in tristam.
And Diablo very much likely just went on a rampage and destroyed the town, after whih he summoned up some demons and skellies to take care of the rest for him.
As to why only Cain survivied? I'd say it was because of two reasons.
1. Only Cain filled a purpose in the story, so having more people imprisoned in Tristram would serve no purpose.
2. The developers didn't want to make any extra models, so they stuck with Cain only.
Anyhow, that's not really relevant, only an explanation. I think that perhaps Cain was bait to keep pursuers off track?
