Which follower do you use? As much as I would like to get away from him, I find that I still rely upon the Templars healing/Health regen quite a bit. Im hoping to get some better gear in the future to may switch out to the enchantress.....or is the Templar the most widely used for Hardcore?

Enchantress all the way. Templar healing is too irregular and occasional for me to really rely upon it, I need to be self-sufficient for healing purposes.
The Enchantress, on the other hand, brings a lot of CC to the table : between charm, confuse, and mass polymorph, there's almost always one CC active.
I've only starting playing HC again recently, and I've kept to the lower difficulty levels. I'm paragon 17 atm, playing exclusively a sorc on expert level, so the healing from the templar isn't really necessary. Can't really comment on the scaling, as my softcore chars are (obviously) built completely differently.
I use the follower with the same main stat as me. So for babrb/crus - Templar, wiz/Witch - Eirena, and for monk/DH I use lyndon. So that the items they would be likely to use are dropping as I play.

If I am playing tank i will use range follower. If i am range i use tank follower.
^ This. Though I have thought about switching over to the enchantress since I am a WD right now (first HC character leveling) and all the items usually drop INT gear ... which isn't great for the Templar.

With the CC's and the demon active, and your own heal/sec going, a d/c isn't game over..
And may the odds be ever in your favour.
