You what I love about Path of Exile so far? The monsters don't flash white when you hit them. I wish to god in D3 they would at least make that an option to turn on/off.
You should know you're hitting your enemy without this arbitrary white flash occurring. In PoE, they're getting knocked back, bleeding, getting arrows lodged into them, making grunting sounds of pain, and best of all, none of them are flashing WHITE!
I love the massive skill tree. It has alot of option and it's intuitive despite it's massive size (you just go following the path you think it's better for you character).
After playing quite a bit of PoE imo skill grinds is the ultimate and perfect skill system (as long as it is all passive). What I don't like about PoE is the camera and how the classes feels an bit all similar... I've played a Templar and a Marauder and they both feels very similar... The only difference is that marauders are stronger but templar have better access to slowing cold spells.

"In time the hissing of her sanity
Faded out her voice and soiled her name
And like marked pages in a diary
Everything seemed clean that is unstained
The incoherent talk of ordinary days
Why would we really need to live?
Decide what is clear and what's within a haze
What you should take and what to give" - Opeth

I agree with you about the "flash" though
Moved to the appropriate section.

And I've been telling people to blow their brains out long before I saw that episode, by the way.
