In an interview with Jay Wilson & Josh Mosqueria during the recently concluded GamesCon 2011 in Germany, many asked what is Blizzard's standing on Diablo III making it to the consoles?
This simply means that Blizzard's still on the case study phase & now that the Beta release is expected anytime before the end of September, maybe they're now trying how to make the Diablo III content viable for the console platform for it to be an awesome game.
Most probably they'll make announcement about advancement in the project on BlizzCon 2012, if ever the team that Josh Mosqueria will assemble, ever be successful in their endeavors.
Question is, will people still sought after the game to be released on consoles since it's a tad too late?
Why, because anytime soon, EA Sports will be releasing a game for X-Box called Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
Which is more like the original Diablo wherein you go on quests, you use mana everytime you're using sustained abilities from skills you pick as you level up.
You play on a huge open world called Amalur that has 5 different geographic regions w/ over 120 hand-crafted dungeons which no two dungeons are alike, you go on the same monsters killing and getting the loot action(Gold, gear & items).
Same with Diablo, you also got merchants like the the blacksmith & the faith weaver.
You start the game with a blank slate, & after the tutorial you'll have to pick your destiny of becoming either a Mage (Sorcerer in Diablo), a Rogue, a Warrior or mix & match skills to become a hybrid of the three (similar to the Spell Book system effect of Diablo I).
Dual-wielding capabilities, with the same basic Diablo I skills of Ice, Lightning & Fire skills to choose from, and not to mention a humongous, dual-wielded Xena-style Chakram.
You'll have stat points you can put into skills (9 skills with over 60 abilities to choose from), then you can go to the faith weaver to re-spec them if you find out that you didn't like where you placed your skill points as you get to the level cap of 40.
What do you think? Give your opinions & suggestions here about the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning near release, and will people get tired of waiting for Diablo III on console?
Add option for "I don't think the games will directly compete with one another, and one's success or failure will be independent from the success of failure of the other."
I dont think a game like this will work on console. If they do somehow make it happen, it will be short lived and people will start playing call of duty or halo instead.
it's different games. I'll play both of them. And Torchlight II. And Rage. And Tera online. And WH40k Space Marine. And Skyrim. And Batman: Arkham City. And Risen 2. And SWTOR. ... you getting my point, i hope.
