If wheatly is back that would be awesome and yes you are in space. It was a weird way to end actuallly with GladOS letting you go and all
I have to say this thoughno matter what anyone says this has to be one of my all time favorite games everything about it was just right. The only thing i hate is the intro, its long and I already know how to play just let me play. But i guess they had to include some easy ass puzzles to start it off for newbs.

I just finished single player. Did anyone else get a little choked up at the end? I kind of did...
To those of you who think there will be a Portal 3, maybe there will be. Yet I like the way everything ended and feel another sequel would be unnecessary.
I had really hoped to some references to Half Life in this game but I guess that was wishful thinking. The game did mention Black Mesa once though and I was all, "Iiii!!"
Still though, how did Chell end up where she was in the beginning of the game? I still haven't understood that. Maybe I just need to go back and watch the beginning again. I will play through campaign again for sure, this time with the commentary. I love Valve's commentaries in their games.
At the end of the first when everything blows the fuck up, you can hear a robot dragging you somewhere but you pass out before you see where it takes you. Presumably this was wheatly or GLaDOS taking to you to those chambers.

That's not what happened in the original ending. I mean, you do seem to black out so I guess anything is possible at this point. But after watching the original ending again just now, I also found this which appears to be the ending you're talking about. So if this is supposed to be the official ending, fine. But that just wasn't the ending I got when I originally beat Portal.

They added the new ending in a patch after the release (some time before Portal 2 was announced).

read the comic on the portal site. Also I just read a bunch of shit. and basically
you are the last person alive, period noone else is there besides you. Black mesa beats Aperture at making a portal device and opens a portal from which aliens come through and effectively end all life on earth. Chell is GLaDOS's or if you want to call her her formal name, caroline's, daughter married to the one and only Cave Johnson, founder of Aperture Science. Bring your daughter to work day was important because it is the first time Carolines conciousness was awakened part of a planned showcase for the kids. Things go wrong and she locks everyone in for immediate testing forever. Killing them as they get through the puzzles, except for one, Chell. Your case file notes are as follows, DO NOT TEST. will never give up. too persistent. So all in all she lets you go because you effectivley make her want to be good caroline again. She doesn't know you are her daughter because if you look closely your last name is Redacted, so she can never actually identify you as her daughter. This whole game is one cluster-fuck of twists turns and WTF's. Which is part of the reason I love it. there is nothing like it anywhere else.

I loved that comic! I'm glad it explained those painted murals in the game too. Because when I saw those I thought of how nice they were, but hoped they just weren't there for eye candy. Though I assumed there was probably a good story behind them.
I'm sad cause I have no one to play co-op with. I may just have to wait till my lady comes to visit me this summer. I have gone in and looked at the commentary on it though and I'm dying to try it.
Life is too short to be offended by marketing tactics. Live and let live.
Life is too important to remain indifferent to all the ridiculous things that happens. Not taking issues or voicing myself when something is wrong is a sin in my eyes. If everybody says nothing, then things get worse.
In games? Or real life? Cause real life, yeah. Games...? I'll just stick to enjoying how fun they are. And if one isn't? Eh, it happens.
Bought this the other day and finished the single player in 2-3 days. Loved it! Can't wait till my friend gets it so we can play the co-op.
Favourite parts:
Rescueing the little sentry on the conveyor belt and then it thanked me.
Loading back to where Glados sets up the fake test chamber only this time I went to go do it... I thought there might be an actual puzzle to solve... instead I get the Good Listener achievement. Then I was neuro-toxined XD
Everything really, was a great campaign
Apparently they were going to use Moss from the IT crowd to voice Wheatly... such a shame that they didn't get him. It would have made the game twice as funny.. probably.
I also noticed the lack of places to put portals. It kind of made it easier in a way though, when there was an obvious patch somewhere and you would usually just put a portal there then work out what to do with it. But it was still pretty tricky, I was stuck on a couple of the puzzles for a while.
Midway through the game I checked through the achievements and found: Lunacy - that just happened. Seeing that I wondered what the achievement was for, but I guessed I should finish the campaign before searching for obscure stuff.
And then there was the ending. I saw the moon, thought back to the achievement's name (Luna is moon in some language; latin I'd guess) and thought to myself "no freaking way". I finished the game in nigh disbelieve that something that ludicrous was actually the solution.
Currently I've got this odd bug. Haven't looked in the steam forums yet for similar problems, but I can't seem to complete the co-op campaing. I played course 5 with one person, but when we reached chamber 5-5 it was getting time to stop. A day or two later I wanted to finish the game with another person, so we started at 5-5. Played the game, finished all chambers, but I didn't get the achievement. When I go back to the hub I see that 5-5 isn't completed. I replayed it from 5-4 with the second person to no avail.
I haven't had the time to play with person 1 yet. Perhaps that might solve the problem...
EDIT:
Moss? Seriously? That would be so awesome! Current voice actor does a good job as well of conveying the well-meant but in the end annoying stupidity that is Wheatley.
Hehe, I love that turret you rescue. It's all, "I'm different..."
Yeah I love the guy who played Moss. That might have been really great. For the record, I didn't hate Wheatley at all I just didn't like his exaggerated character. I think they should've toned down his stammering a bit.
I also thought it was hilarious when Wheatley made that retarded test chamber for you... and you pushed the button and it dropped the cube directly onto the button, opening the door. Then he made you do it again... I was like ahhhh.
Also the deformed sentry cubes was something you would expect from Wheatley. Loved seeing the part where he was trying to train them to solve puzzles. Yeah the actor got a bit annoying but he suited the character I guess. Moss could have been so much better, he was their first choice apparently.
Oh yeah, the turret. As soon as I saw him with his cute voice I instinctively picked him up. I also sorta walked him into the emancipation grid that came afterwards...
I don't know if I've mentioned my funniest quote yet. It's isn't really a quote, but more of a single word that just gave a good on my face: "Now just waddle on down to the elevator..." There are other parts which make me laugh more, but this one feels different. It's such a little comment, but it's both demeaning and funny (both because 'waddle' sounds funny and the mental image) which makes GLaDOS feel a bit more alive.
I thought Glados was laying it on a bit thick with the taunts, actually. And when I played the game with the commentary, they said they actually toned it down a bit cause playtesters were feeling really annoyed with it after awhile. I wonder how bad it must've been before they got rid of some of her taunts cause even then I still was like, yeah, I get it you don't like me and you're taunting me. Okay.
I mean you DID kill a psychopath that then essentially came back from the grave, and during the hundreds of years she was forced to relive you killing her over and over. I would expect a lot of insults. I liked how Glados transformed by the end though.
I would say my two favorite moments thus far (only have course 4 and 5 left in co-op) are:
The Part Where He Kills You. I laughed my ass off at how many times that was repeated in about ten seconds. 'Oh no, this is the part where he kills us.' 'Hello, this is the part where I kill you.' Across screen: THE PART WHERE HE KILLS YOU.
The puzzle that makes you collide with your partner in co-op. Took me forever but it was great when I got it.
