Lionsgate's awesome. I really liked what they did to Batman, removing all the funky characters and focusing on the darker sides of the story. If there's ever a Diablo movie finished, I'm glad they're behind it along with Blizzard.
Blizzard sued them over the name. That's not news.
The "Diablo" for this movie has nothing to do with the Blizzard one. It's about a drug war. Vin Diesel is cast as "Diablo."

Lionsgate didn't have anything to do with Batman Begins. Batman Begins was produced by LEGENDARY PICTURES (the company everyone else is talking about).
Lionsgate is certainly NOT awesome, and if Diablo ever fell into their hands it would be the death of Diablo. Lionsgate releases nothing but shitty films, I don't think they've ever released anything semi-decent. I don't think Blizzard would ever sell the rights to any of their games to Lionsgate though, they are devoted to quality, and quality is not an attribute anyone would associate Lionsgate with.

Er, Pi? American Psycho? Crash? (i dont like that movie but it got a heap of accolades) They also produce Weeds which is one of the best series on TV. They have some shitters for sure but what company doesn't?
I don't agree, I feel that a D3 movie could introduce D to a wider range of people, increasing sales. If you consider for a moment, everyone who has already enjoyed the spoils of D1 and D2, do you think a bad D movie would stop them from playing D3? I don't!

as far as i can see, If a movie were to come out about diablo then it would not be base around the game as much as the books witch are BLizzard reconized. An anyways half the movies based on games or games based on movies SUK.
I do not think a Diablo movie would be too great. The problem with films based upon RPGs such as this is that in the games the main character was the only hero. But in movies you must have many a supporting role so the film isn't dragged out with just demon killing. Writers tend to take liberties with their work and that tends to be quite disastrous.
Examples:
Mortal Kombat Movies (Ruined because of Paul WS Anderson)
Street Fighter Movie (Dear god could that have been any worse?)
Resident Evil Movies (I was mad but atleast it was so different I didn't think it was RE. Also Paul's fault)
Aliens vs Predator Movies (First was lame which was Paul's fault again, second was just god awful)
However I have noticed that when the original workers of the games put out movies of their own they tend to be better. These are just two examples done by Capcom but there have been a couple others.
Examples:
Street Fighter 2 The Movie
Resident Evil Degeneration (Upcoming)
Blizzard is well known for their cinematics, I'm not saying they should make a two and a half hour movie but if they broke it up and posted 15 minutes of it every week after they were done (charging upfront) and we could watch it piece by piece or wait for it to be done and watch it in full. I don't know, I was just thinking out loud.
Just so you know Legandary Pictures has already spilled some juice saying that they are already working on a World of Warcraft movie AND a Diablo Movie and it's going to be live action nobody can figure out out if these are reliable sources or if their a big hoax!
:offtopic:Honestly I don't see blizzard starting a movie untill they finish up all their franchises and drawing all the storylines to a close then making a movie to explain all the stuff afterwards.

they will probably do something like what FF did. they might make the movie then make a D IV with the events in the game occuring after the movie

I hope we get a forum, that can be dedicated to the discussion of the Diablo movie which is being developed by Legendary Pictures. Thank God! that studio is handling the film.
Anyway I figured I would post a link which is old, but was my first signal that there would be a Diablo motion picture. Until and if we get a forum to discuss the film, this forum is a good place to start.
and by the way the movie NewLine Cinema ended up making, was that Crappy Vin Deisel flick A man apart, or was it A Man Torn? or A Man in a fart ?
