I was wondering if you guys are looking forward to this game. I liked sacred 1, but it didn't seem to have the replay value of Diablo. I've watched some videos on this game on youtube and played part of the demo, seems like it will be an good game. You can choose good or evil and your perspective on the storyline and quests varies based on what you chose. In addition Sacred 2 has a save/exit system now, not save/load, so bosses can be killed more than once. Seems like a good time waster until D3.
Any thoughts on Sacred 2?

I'm only lvl 16 in sacred 2, and it's boring as hell... you can only use 3-4 skills at the time (unless you click on the skill with your mouse in the skill window to choose it while you're fighting) and there is no mana, so you have to wait for the skill to cooldown.
Each mob of my lvl dies in 2 hits with a staff or in 1 hit with a point-blank-range-magic attack or inferno+frost spikes.
On the other hand, the graphics are awesome even on the lowest settings, the whole screen is covered with grass, each tree has like 500 leafs on it, torches flicker at night and some caves look absolutely stunning..
The voiceovers are hilarious, the elf says stuff like "i wonder where the animals get their gold from", "something like.. just another village, will the farmers stare at my cleavage?", "RAAAAAAAWRRRRR" in high pitch, "will somebody remove animals from the spawn tables please?"
oh and there's like 10 quests in each little village and they are all the same............... this is totally overdone...
Ya, i tried really hard to like it but it was mad boring. I just couldn't get into it.

As a game? no, definitely not recommended; it's a thousand times inferior to Diablo.
But I'm buying it solely because Blind Guardian has a cameo in a secret level in the game with a new song. Un-freaking-believable.

I'm looking forward to it. I know the game is easy and not as good as diablo but I still liked it.

I bought sacred one a while ago, it was pretty good, but does not have the replay value of Diablo. It also had save/load vs save and exit. (the sacred games also have a combo system, where you can combine 3 or four attacks, which simply makes you do all of them immediately after each other). You could put the same skill each time if you had one powerful, but slow skill, or you could make it 4 quick attacks, whatever you choose to make it, and they were easy to change. Overall made some good innovations to Diablo, but still is a clone, and is not as good, nevertheless still a good game.
Have not played much of 2 though...
I played the Sacred 2 demo a little. It seems to be improved, it is save and exit now, so can fight bosses etc again (more replayable). You can choose to be good or bad, but one character has to be good, one has to be bad (out of the 6 character you can start with). Characters are the Dryad, Shadow Warrior, Seraphim(has to be on side of light), Temple Gaurdian, Inquisitor(has to be on side of dark), and High Elf.
Some of the characters look fun to play, but for the demo you play a seraphim, which was in sacred 1. I don't like the seraphim that much, but some of the other classes look fun. I have not played the demo much, but yes the graphics are good, cannot say much about gameplay, barely played it, I'm busy with school right now.
Just listed the little info I know, seems like it will be better than the first, but do not know. The character I would like to play is the Shadow Warrior, which seems like it will play most like a Barbarian/warrior class with undead type skills also.
Seems like a good game, but I don't want to fork out the doe or time right now.
If anyone buys it and plays it extensively, they could tell us about it, if they would like to.

I just got it and am loving it so far. The graphics are awesome. It has been awhile since I last played Sacred so I started out on bronze level as a Shadow Warrior. Can't wait to try out the Hellhound mount. Was gonna try the Temple Guardian, which is kind of like a cyborg but I went barb type first (go figure - lol).

I trialed Sacred 2 after discovering it was LAN capable.
The hardware requirement seems to be above the average and may involve the spending of substantial sums to upgrade.
The activation requirement is surely unnecessary. It will not prevent unauthorised use and it does annoy legitimate users (one, at least - ME!)
The apparent absence of any randomisation will decrease replayability.
The game is buggy. The game will not run at all on my computer unless all sound is disabled for example.
The upgrades are a joke. The Ascaron forums have numerous posts about the failure of upgrade patch 2.34. Upgrading is not a new art.
Combat mechanics aren't too bad but combat occasionally occurs in areas requiring camera movement. Not easy when the character is being beaten to death
The graphics are excellent in most repects (the environment for example) although there are a number of graphics issues, for example problems concerned with the animation of enemies who, in many cases refuse to die but merely partially submerge themselves in the terrain.
In my opinion (and I have some unusual requirements) it is definitely inferior to Diablo II LOD as a player experience.
My recommendation would be to spend your time on Diablo II:LOD
Are those all things, you think, that can't be fixed in time for the release? I looked on the site and all I saw was a Beta patch or whatever, so I'm assuming it's still in Beta.
The game has been released and has been the subject of a number of patching exercises by Ascaron. It's an expensive game by Australian standards and frankly it isn't really worth the money.
Everything wrong with the game could - and should - have been fixed before the release. I don't understand why the peoblems weren't picked up by the Beta testers!
As I mentioned I trialled the game for my own purposes and what you have is my own opinion. It may not accord with that of others who have different requirements.
Even the trialling process was an exercise in endurance rather than a pleasurable experience, and as such I rated Sacred 2 not suitable for my needs.
I was looking for a particular type of game (check some of my other posts) and Sacred 2 seemed to fit the bill. Unfortunately this wasn't the case so I now have a (legitimate) copy on the rack which isn't getting used and I've returned to Diablo II:LOD
this game came pretty cheap in Greece (23 euro for a new release wtf) and its selling well.
It still needs alot work and even though its decent its not special. I'll agree with goodguy on that.

Oh, well, that's a pity. I guess it's just one of those high-gloss games that looks good at first glance but really sucks. Anyway, thanks for the reply, saved me a bundle of American dollars
I remember dropping Sacred 1. I dropped it because every time I sat down I wasted about 4 hours without even noticing.
On a fansite devoted to one of the most broken and unbalanced game in history, saying that Sacred 2 is buggy is just funny.
Sacred 2 is first of all a game. To say it's bad due to technical problems with patches is like accusing a movie of low film quality. Yes, it's annoying. But it doesn't make a game good or bad. It's irrelevant when judging THE GAME.
I've played games on totall old unpatched versions because I couldn't patch... it's not a catastrophe.
I went on S2 forums and while people have a few complaints about bugs they're enjoying it. Just as people are enjoying DII. S1 was buggy as hell and it didn't bother me. I was more bothered by the fact that I didn't know what to put where.
Just to mention what may make the game actually interesting, since NOBODY in this thread mentioned any of this:
The game features a very flexible leveling system, and it's a lot more complex than DII's (although none of you are going to admit it, but whatever);
you get 199 attribute points to spend in 6 Attributes, 911 skill points (I may be off, though) to spend in about 25 skills (vary between classes) where 75 is mastery (may bring out weird effects) and 200 is the max, and 3 mods for each Combat Art (combat arts drop like DI spellbooks). Oh, and you can choose deities, too. + there is crafting.
I've just been building a Temple Guardian Lost Fusion build and there's a lot of interesting relations to be found. I also noted the the game is pretty well balanced, considering the ridiculous amount of choice it offers. People who play warriors DO put points into STR and so on, while others did some crazier things, such as abnormal hybrids.
Also, there is LAN.
I'd side with goodguy here. It's a decent game. And stop comparing it to Diablo, this is a Diablo forum so the comparison is biased to begin with, you'd stand by your game even if something totally better comes out.
Personally, I think some of you are just too lazy to go and sit with this game and figure it out, because you've already figured out Diablo II and you don't want to do it again and return to utter noobishness.
And Magistrate, just dl it, lol. I don't like the idea of paying $50 for it myself, I think most games are too expensive, anyway.
Equinox, I personally cannot claim to be a 'Fan' in the sense of 'Fanatic'. Diablo II:LOD has been both useful and enjoyable but I am required to be objective.
The thread about problems with 2.34 has reached 25000 views on official forums lol. You can still play 2.10/2.12/2.31 but then you can't play online and in some cases won't have any sound/speech. So if you haven't bought the game yet, don't buy it and save yourself from the nightmare.
All classes have speech and whatever and online works fine (LAN) in my version. 1.12. Sometimes you just shouldn't patch like crazy.
I find it funny how me and my friend have been calmly playing the game and having fun, not noticing really any buggage besides the occasional crash, and discussing the gameplay pros and cons, while everyone else is bickering about patching policy???
I enjoy the game, but patches generally create more problems then solutions, then again with how big the game is you really can't fault them for having problems, otherwise its a great game with flaws like the stalkers series.
