Step 1: Throw epic fit in dramatic fashion
Step 2: Hide under appropriately sized rock for indeterminate amount of time
Step 3: Emerge from said rock with self-righteous attitude
Forgive me, but is that how you view me? Or were you referencing Bleu or somebody else?
It doesn't matter too terribly much, just curious.
Referencing myself.
Self deprecating humor....it's the best way to save face. I stormed out of here a few months ago with my pants full of shit, flailing wildly about my disappointment in the lack of advancements made in 2013 toward Diablo 3.
God damnit Ruksak, stop doing that. I don't feel nearly as good about myself when I call you names now.
At least you're back =D
Yeah, good to have you back mate!

"Hey, I thought you'd like the witty irony of grub-on-glowie violence!"
Snaks42 sounds somewhat familiar, though there have been so many members on this forum it's hard to keep track of who comes and who goes.
Anyway, like I say, it is my opinion. If it was not a Blizzard game, I would of let all the problems go, because for a non-Blizzard game, in my opinion, it is a very good game. But I've been playing Blizzard games for so long that I expect more from them. Companies like Blizzard, Nintendo, and Valve are simply capable of going above and beyond what the average company can do. That's why I expect more from them, and when they do not live up to their potential, like any good fan should do, I call them out on it.
Now does this mean that your opinion that D3 is über is wrong? Of course not. Though saying that one person's opinion is provably right and another is provably wrong is, in essence, going against the very definition of "opinion".
And finally, I fucking hate winter. Go away cold weather, you piss me off. :-(
I'm more of a hot weather person, you may think that because I live in Australia. Well let me tell you this sonny Jim, Melbourne does NOT follow the hot weather rule that the rest of Australia follows!
Congratulations Zero!

Yeah, man, that was great. Although I think the lava pit to the right of the house is too close; NPC's wander off and fall in. Those idiots. Still, it was work befitting gods (we moved a frickin' MOUNTAIN!).
You won't believe what that mental-case LinkX started doing yesterday; I had to log off, but he kept at it for a while longer (I left the server up so he could satisfy his urges, so to speak). I won't even tell you, you have to see for yourself.
Yeah the pit to the right is crappy we gotta move it. What did Linkx do? lol... I won't be able to check for like atleast 4 hours
Look... there's a way to enable / disable a platform so we can use it as a bridge for the lava pits. That way when there's an invasion i will shout "RAISE THE BRIDGES" or somethign and then you run along and raise them while i shoot cannon balls from ontop of the walls of our fortress. Sounds like a good idea right?
I'm so jealous of you guys, all that sounds like a lot of fun..
I thought I was gonna be able to play some today but I couldn't find the time to even play a Black Ops match stupid work... Maybe on the afternoon, hopefully...
I'm so jealous of you guys, all that sounds like a lot of fun..
I'm so jealous because it sounds like so much fun but by the time I'm on your level you will have moved on and not play anymore, I'm afraid. But I don't even understand 99% of stuff, so I'll just play a bit and see if at some point this starts to make sense

That's how i felt a couple of days ago but i kept checking the wiki everytime i heard of something that i didn't know about and now i pretty much know enough
Oh i downloaded a map with lots of chests with all the items in game in them so that helped me with getting a grip on things...

I try to stay away from the wiki, and prefer to ask my questions here. Zero made me aware of that - looking at the wiki immediately spoils so much, which items and monsters are yet to come, and what's the limit (i.e., the best items and materials). Right now, only sky is the limit - which feels much better RPG-wise. The nicest thing about an RPG is to feel completely helpless and at some time later look back, remember that feeling and see how much your character developed.
Oh i downloaded a map with lots of chests with all the items in game in them so that helped me with getting a grip on things...
That's outright cheating and is just like downloading a save game full of OP items in TL2, or creating a credit card character in D3. To each his own, but 1) it completely kills the entire RPG aspect of any game and 2) entirely destroys my long-term motivation.
Well i don't really view Terraria as an RPG even though it has RPG elements in it. My motivation playing this game is based on one thing which is multiplayer. If i don't have anyone to play with i can't get motivated to even start the game...
So i guess that's where our differences stem from.
Besides, spending real money on my D3 characters only made me play the game more so it's really a matter of perspective. I don't really have the time to play as much as i once used to so taking "shortcuts" is a positive thing in my book.
I can totally relate to the being a noob is fun part though.
There's a mod for GTA:SA called SAMP (mp as in multiplayer) and it had dedicated servers with different game modes (still exists to this day). Some of the servers were RP oriented so everything you did had to be in character. I remember joining my first RP server back in 07 (i was like 17 back then) it was like one of the best experiences i ever had with gaming. Being a noob totally made it ten times more fun as what it should have been.
After a while when i became a total pro (lol) it started to be a bit boring because everything had to be done by the rules, etc...
But yeah, then i started leading factions and shit so it was still fun. It's like the game i played the most in my life after Diablo 2.
I wish people respected those stances and understood them.
The average "official forum asshole" tends to have that attitude that whoever doesn't know everything about the game and isn't playing on MP10 all the time is a complete noob (I even remember a streamer I liked to watch having that attitude), aka the elitist - and whoever uses the RMAH/AH is a complete jerk and dirty cheater, aka the mad-fella :D...
As Bagstone said, to each his own People have fun in different ways, and this whole "always online game and community with a free economy" definitely took its toll and showed the worst of the current Blizzard fanbase.
If people understood that very basic core concept from the beginning (instead of thinking they're the only ones who matter in a 10+ million playerbase) we would've had a lot less hatred towards D3. But alas, that's like fighting human nature itself.

@Jamoose, I don't care that you're a cheater I still like you...
And @Bagstone don't worry too much about it. Last thing you know Terraria 2 is released and we're all playing together 4 years from now (kinda like what happened to DotA so many years ago)... all that really matters is how amazing that first experience is, and how emotionally tied you become to it (like I did to Terraria, and didn't to Minecraft).
I think most of my favorite games, looking back, are those that I failed at first or at least got my ass handed. For example, in the WoW beta we ran into Duskwood with our level 1 characters and got killed by a wolf. Since the wolf had a skull sign instead of a displayed level ( >10 difference) we thought they were some boss and we were teaming up and discussing strategies. Sure, embarrassing just a few hours later but it made us feel like even getting to level 20 was something you need to accomplish at first. Same with a tiger at the entrance of Stranglethorn or, most impressive, a dragon at the entrance of Badlands (a real freaking dragon, we were so excited - and got hour ass handed, of course). I could tell 100 more stories, but it's all the same - something seems to be impossible at first, and a bit later (practice, time, strategy, gearing up, ...) you kill it. The more "unsurmountable" something is at first, the greater the feeling of achievement later on, especially if it's really hard earned work without any help from outside that made us kill it. That's why watching the Ragnaros first kill video still gives me goosebumps - we didn't even know if we would ever manage to kill him, and we tried for weeks.
You might say this only applies to RPG - which is true to some extent. If you joined a raid group when they already cleared everything and it was basically "weekly farming", the first kill is much less meaningful. But I even had this feeling in a completely different genre, namely strategy. My first time playing Civilization 1 I created my small little empire, thought everything was going well, I was slowly making progress and on the verge of the Industrial Revolution... and then the Aztecs came and crushed me with tanks. Scumbags. Even years later in any successor of Civilization, I head for the Aztecs first. Life long payback for what they have done to me. In general, I prefer to use diplomatic win options, but for the Aztecs even nuclear bombs are an option.
Also Bagstone, I've noticed you consider some of us "experienced"...
Duuude, we're not... this is what a Terraria-pro looks like:
No need to check all his videos (he has a ton), but this one in particular highlights the difference between what a pro can do with very little resources, compared to how much we mortals suffer with a lot of equipment.
And if I can ever be half as good (in terms of game knowledge, awareness and controls) as this, I'd be pretty happy with myself
