Interesting points Azriel. But I think someone who simply enjoys video games would be good for a lot of people. I don't like playing games around someone I'm dating anyways, it just feels awkward unless we've been dating a while. Ha ha. Unless we're playing something multiplayer... and I'm winning...

i get from your post that you dont like playing games around someone your dating, do you think its a Faux pas?
or you think he/she might judge you?
Neither really, If they're into it I'd probably be fine with sitting down once in a while and playing some games with them. But even then, I don't want it to be the only thing we do together. I want them to do other things as well, like go to the beach and movies, etc. I spend plenty of my single life cooped up inside.
My idea of a relationship is much grander than sitting around and playing video games. I'd much prefer to have a girlfriend who is deeply invested in music or cinema rather than video games.
Again, I'm not trying to say that girls can't play video games; I just don't think I'd easily get along with one. It would take some effort on my part, taking into great consideration the fact that I'm not as heavily invested in video games as I was six years ago. My tastes got more narrow and my patience got shorter. I can hardly enjoy video games now because I get bored or frustrated too easily; it takes a lot for a game to hold my attention. My most recent gaming obsession is revisiting my old copy of Star Wars: Empire At War. It was such a good game at the time and I'm working towards getting the expansion in the near future.
... wait, okay, we were talking about girls and gaming. If a girl loves video games, then she loves video games. That, in my opinion, is fantastic. I still don't think I could come to like her easily though. I am much more connected to movies and music than I am to video games.
