For those of you who clicked that link, you were sent to a page featuring a goodbye note. There's a story in this.
The website as I knew it was www.legendofzelda.com, which focused on Zelda and other Nintendo news. I started following the website over seven years ago, years before the announcement of the Nintendo Wii and a little while before the reveal of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Over the years, I watched it change. It went from a splash screen featuring Zelda music to a revamped green-clothed website. From there, it went blue, and eventually became Xero Gaming, focused on all gaming news. I was a lurker all that time.
A few weeks ago, one of their administrators put out a notice seeking people to join the website as writers, posting new news and video game reviews. I quickly applied and was accepted in a few days.
Two weeks later, as I was settling into the community, that notice appeared, announcing the end of the website. I had already moved on from my last administrator job at www.amateurwriting.org (mostly. I'm still an admin, but not active anymore).
And now I'm sad. I was looking forward to and enjoying this change, exploring and meeting a new group. Mostly this was just a somewhat-nerdy sob story. Does anybody else have anything like this that happened to them? You joined a party just a little too late? It sucks.
