I never could like Blind Guardian, they just sound too happy. Not to say that metal has to be sad, but I mean listen to the guy: he sounds like he's heading out to pick flowers and then have some cookies or something. Iron Maiden has the same problem and I can't really get past it.

That's one of my favorites from Hammerfall. But I very much disagree with you on the "Blind Guardian" matter. They sure give "some" optimism with their way of singing most of the time, but it's their style is very much a signature, right? You can't mistake them for someone else, which is hardly the case with many bands.
Listen to Amon Amarth. They're out to rape women and destroy your town.
There's a healthy balance to be had between picking flowers and destroying towns. That being said, I did like the song Akuma posted better than Blind Guardian.

harmonized growling \m/
Hey, I'm not saying they shouldn't have their own signature. Just saying I don't like it
Screw you, they're awesome!
Amazing song, aint it Akuma?
I'm actually curious to know everyone's opinion on this....Metallica or Megadeth?
Personally I love Metallica. James' voice is way better than David's.
both! lol if i had to pick i would pick Metallica in the 80's
but if I could have it the way I want it would be Metallica with Dave never leaving the band and seeing what they would have accomplished
