I don't think my case is severe. I mean, I can breath through both nostrils, but I can breath better in my right one, y'know? That, couple with allergies, fucked me over. The doctor said that the nasal sprays weren't really working because the delivery was all fucked due to the deviation, and that convinced me to a degree.
I'm gonna take his word for it when it comes to the swelling and pain. Hopefully they'll dose me with morphine, so I wouldn't be able to even give a fuck about anything, nevertheless feel any pain.
Oh I didn't mean to scare you or anything... The operation itself is really nothing to worry about, they make you inhale some gass and you're gone, and next thing you know you're in a different room waking up. It seems like in your case it will be a lot less tricky than mine, so don't worry too much about the swelling. Your nose is a sensitive spot though, so any swelling is quite annoying, but no more than that. And if I remember correctly it was only bothering me the first couple of days..
Yeah. I was gonna check how deviated it is by looking at my own X-Rays, but my cousin forgot to get them for me from where she works, so I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow. I'm guessing the more deviated it is, the harder it'll be to recover and all that.
I've undergone the same surgery a couple of years ago. I was almost never able to breathe through my nose. The surgery didn't totally fix it though... Now usually I can breathe through one nostril, and as soon as there's even a little bit of allergy or whatever I have to breathe through my mouth.
How do you even sleep if you can't breathe through your nose? I know I have trouble falling asleep if I have a cold :/
Tell me about it. I have awesome breathing, but get hit with a cold and both nostrils are blocked up. It feels like you're trying to breathe through a brick.
Uhh, yeah, that's a symptom. The bloodflow increases to the area, and I think IgE is involved in someway in the process. Get some decongestive nasal spray. Something like Xylo-COMOD, or something with pseudoephrine. They're OTC drugs, so you don't need a prescription or anything like that.
You get used to it really.. it's been many years I've been living like this. I don't remember what it's like to be able to breathe through both nostrils, but most of the time I don't even notice. At night I mostly end up breathing though my mouth. But it's something you learn to live with, I regularly do sports without any problems etc.. you get used to everything, and besides, there are much worse things
I definitely can't live with this. It gives me headaches, makes me groggy, and just fucking pisses me off. It should work, since like, my right nostril is alright most of the time..the left just isn't.

So I went and showed him my X Rays today, and I don't need a septoplasty. I have hypertrophy on my turbinates (the things that damped the air we breath, enhance smelling, serve immunological thingies, and are the things that get swollen when you get a cold, or have an allergy or whatever), so I'm getting a bilateral turbenectomy (he's gonna reduce their size). Now because decongestants work perfectly on me (the only reason my left nostril isn't that affected by them is because the left turbinate is more hypertrophied that the right one), I believe this surgery will fix everything. If it doesn't, he's gonna remove some cartilage from my nose's bridge (you know, the bone that's on the top of it?), place it right under the turbinates (because when I breath, the suction forces the flaps of my nose to cave in, obstructing air flow.), and basically perform plastic surgery on my nose to fix its appearance up completely. This is drastic, so I won't do it unless it's completely necessary. Even with the slight obstruction, the turbinectomy will drastically improve my breathing, because air will have much more space inside my nose when I breath, regardless of the fact that my nose pretty much gets sucked in everytime I breath.
see... we knew you were getting a plastic surgery, you narcissistic egomaniac!!
well, seriously now, good luck with everything and hope you don't need more than the simple thingy you said and I didn't understand and not the other complicated thing whatever it might be
I wanna watch this surgery go down. I have always been fascinated by everything medical. Just didn't feel right to going into that field though. Good luck again!

Good luck with the op, I have the same problem, let me know how it goes. I've avoided that idea because I don't want my nose getting operated on any more than I would my 15" inch penis, I just put up with the back pain.
Good luck with the operation Meph.

Stop spamming. You're annoying.

Good luck with the operation, that is if it has not gone through already.
