Hello there. After following the boards here for a couple of months I've finally decided to join up. Like almost everyone else here, I've been eagerly anticipating Diablo III for years--pretty much since I stopped playing DII (~5-6 years ago). I once hoped that WoW might grab me like Diablo had, so I played it for three months (one summer break), but I stopped when I realized it lacked the fun and atmosphere of the Diablo series. This is not to say that Blizzard didn't do many things right with WoW (I realize how blasphemous this might sound), but it just wasn't quite right for me.
More recently, I've found that the games I've been playing in my free time haven't felt as awesome as DIII has the potential to be, so I'm thinking of installing D2/LoD if I can on this machine and if my discs/cd-keys are findable and working. I'll have a bit of free time this summer break and I thought it might be nice to play through from beginning to end without skipping content like I tended to do in my younger days. For the record, I haven't played since .08 or .09 (don't remember which, just know it was pre-1.10) so I may have turned myself back into a noob by my absence (synergies...? ubers...? what?). That being said, I'll probably be looking to start playing D2 again around mid-late June if anyone wants to join me in playing through the whole game w/o any outside help in the form of items or rushes. Advice however, would be absolutely welcome!

Welcome to the forums !
Should give the Eastern Sun mod a try, I stopped playing D2 a while back but that mod got me hooked again ^^.
Haha, I was turned into a noob as well during my leave of absence from D2, hopefully you get good at it again.
Anywho, welcome again, and don't forget to post !

Like Zhar said, give ES Mod a try, it definitely put life back into LoD for me, but now it's hard to go back.^_^

Welcome Dude!
Instal D2 LoD NOW!!! Why not?? heheh
Enjoy your stay and dont forget to post!
oh and if you feel like homer you know what to do!!!!
I can't install it today because I have neither discs or cd-keys on me and I have heaps of school and moving to do before I'll be able to take a break. And honestly I'd really rather focus hard on taking care of business for a couple weeks so that afterwards I can chill out with some solid D2 LoD Nostalgia and know that I earned it.
BTW, how does homer feel?
