I'm new to the diablo series. I was just wondering if i would be better of starting off with diablo 3? Even though I'm ganna have to wait quite some time. Or should i go buy diablo 2 to start getting a feel for the game?

Thundercats Hoooooah!
Lol, if you really want to appreciate it, yyou should try playing the previous versions for sure, especially Diablo 2
if your a big story person and want all the details start with the 1st game, and if your in just for the awesome gameplay just play Diablo 2 because its so addicting, and get in a co-op game on B.net with a friend if you want a truly awesome experience

I can't believe hair metal used to be cool...

YUCK!
Would I get any "satisfaction" from buying and playing Diablo I, or should I just look forward to Diablo III?
I guess that you wil find Diablo 1 really boring after you got used to play Diablo 2. If you want to play just for the storyline its fine but not for the game experience. The only cool thing about D1 is the Butcher.
Well, that is my opinion. D1 has many gameplay flawss and I really didnt like playing it, the lore is nice but all the rest is terrible.
Everyone is entitled to one. being the 1st in the series it has flaw, but D2 has jsut as many.
on another note I got into the 1st game after beating the 2nd many times. I enjoyed D1 it has a very vintage feel to it. i personally enjoy old school games like Baldur's Gate, D1, and the like. So it becomes personal preference

I mean it wont hurt you to get and start playing d2, but if your set on waiting the who knows how many days/months to get d3 i guess that would be fine too.

I went outside once. The graphics were good but the gameplay sucked.
DIablo III is meant to be part of this little 'trilogy', remember, so I think its a good idea to play the first two too.
DI is a little slow, but it is still a really fun and thrilling experience. The atmosphere is so much better than DII, you actually feel somewhat scared. I think the slower pace is part of what makes it scarier, because you can't just run away really fast if something scary appears (like the Butcher, or the Skeleton King, or Lazarus, or a whole team of sexy yet killer succubi, or Diablo himself).
THe succubi in DI are so much better than the ones in DII.
Its kind of hard to explain all this, you really just have to experience it for yourself.
If you do play DI, you should definitely play it before DII.

Dead on with this. Although I think what added to the fear factor was my age at the time of my first playthrough. D2 never scared me at all. It was challenging but not horrifying. Hell I don't know, maybe I have been desensitized over time. After all I used to not be able to sleep after watching a Friday the 13th movie. Now, I just laugh at it. And oh yeah those succubi totally rocked, ass all poking up in the air after you slaughtered them.

The blind mind's eye replies with a sigh and a tear of contempt for those who see the world as it truly is.

Such an unfortunate lack of vision...
